Nothing in the world can prepare you for Halifax! The scummiest hole in the whole world – my girlfriend who comes from Bristol is often gobsmacked by the detritus on view and she only sees it on a weekend when the scum are dressed up!
During the weekdays it is even worse. Those of you from big towns and cities, think of the worst estate you know – Gipton and Halton Moor in Leeds spring to my mind – if the scum hanging around the Happy Shopper there are tipped in to the town centre and you’ll be half there.
Even the pensioners are scum, trying to use the main post office on a lunchtime you are immersed into an ammonia stinking, piss world, the mothers (13 – 16) push their Burberry buggies round, the baby girls ears already pierced and ready for the hoop earrings she’ll get for her 2nd birthday.
Daytime scum hang around near the market close to the cheap shoe shops, Greggs and JJB Sports.
At night the town is a frightening place, anyone over 40 is in a huge minority. The scumettes are all identically dressed with more flesh on show than on an Ibiza beach and one thought strikes you: – Some of the girls have wonderful legs, tight lithe bodies and L’Oreal hair but they’re all ugly, every last one of them. (Did anyone see the daughter on C4′s Wife Swap broadcast 20th July? – fine example). Then of course there’s more than a fair smattering of the Size 18s in Size 12 clothes. Mind you it’s not like the blokes are a catch either, there’s definitely a narrowing of the gene pool around here and the almost palpable level of potential violence would be enough for George Dubya to send the troops in. Most of the shops around George Sq. closed years ago and turned into bars and then the council (who granted permission) complain that there’s too much of a drinking culture in the town. Scumettes are not chatted up & shagged in this town, they’re carried legless from the nightclubs and raped in an alleyway. A truly awful town.
Places to observe / avoid: Tramshed; anybar in George Sq; WC’s (used to be a public loo – ironic?);Coliseum;Yates; Jumping (Fighting) Jaks (replaced the last cultural outpost in town, the cinema);various curry houses around Lord Street after 2 a.m.; the taxi office on Horton St.

Speaking as a Halifax ex pat -I moved away in 1975. We had a visit to Halifax in October 2011 and were amazed to see how the town had improved. Halifax and Yorkshire people in general are known for being friendly and helpful. The two negative comments seem to be from people who have some sort of a problem fitting in. Most towns have a problem with drinkers and fighting on a Saturday night
I have to say that Halifax is the roughest,ugliest place I have ever been to for a night out,and I have to agree that during the daytime it is just as ugly,if not even worse.I’ve noticed it is a very close knit,clicky place where everyone knows everyone,I imagine inbreeding is very high in Halifax.If you do venture there for a night out,you really do need to get hammered with alcohol otherwise you ain’t gonna fit in,it’s one of those places.And the drink might just cover up the cheap trashiness of the people and the venues.
do know what pal go give your head a big old wobble coz i know for a fact there are worse places to live than halifax example london,blackpool and not forgeting manchester so go think about it before you run your mouth off you little boy
I have lived in Halifax for nearly twelve years and have to say I love it,the people are friendly and the town is great it is so good I realy dont need to go out of town to shop as it is all here,when I look around I see only a couple of shops that have closed down so that must say something in these times,a lot of towns have a lot of empty shops, so the people of Halifax must love there town and shops so much they dont feel the need to go any were else.may be the person who put our town down had a bad day or night in our town and thought he would put us down, but hay i think you will find we are doing ok thank you very much if you dont like
Halifax find somewere else to go I think we can manage without you. And by the way we have some very good looking people in Halifax put your glasses on.

Well aren’t you a stuck up c**t. I’ve lived in halifax for 17 years and they have been the best 17 years of my life, the nightlife i find is a good atmosphere but obviously there is going to be altercations between certain individuals, the community is close knitt and everybody knows eachother, you clearly don’t know what you are talking about. I have lived in other places over the years that have been alot worse, i lived in dewsbury for example. Now if you think halifax is this bad then please mate, DO NOT visit dewsbury. Also Wakefield is on a par with dewsbury. Halifax is a great town hense why there is alot of pride from the people who live here. So please take your snobby comments somewhere else, like chelsea, you might fit in there more.
