I know you may be fed up with hearing about this dump, but i felt that I too, must tell the world about this disgraceful town.
Situated 28 miles from London in Buckinghamshire, you wouldn’t think this town could be such a shithole……
But it is! The only reason the shitty tory council/MP gets in is becuase of the surrounding posh wannabe villages, but Wycombe itself, overall is a northern labour voting industrial town somehow misplaced in bucks. Not that this is a bad thing in some respects, because it makes a change from the middle class stuck up towns in this area….. but Wycombe is just too far the other way.
There was an acurate description of Desborough given in another opinon and yes, it is a true dump, full of delapidated victorian terraces. The prostitution on Desborough Road never really gets sorted no matter how hard the council and police try, and neither do the gang fights and robbery. Still, maybe after Iceland gets ram raided another 40 times, somebody may take some action.
I’m surprised to see nobody has mentioned the Castlefield, Micklefield or Bowerdean estates yet. These places are truely rotten with many benefit claiming heroin addicts housed in them.
A particular mention should be paid to Castlefield. It appears to be the favourite place to house immigrants, and some streets are “white no-go areas”. This place is like a third world country with litter strewn streets, daily stabbings, decaying 1930′s council houses, and dumped burnt out cars on every corner (aswell as hostile gangs). The local park is covered in graffiti saying “mother f**king honkies out” and other such lovely comments. The whole estate is monitered by CCTV because the situations of drugs knives guns and racial tensions have grown out of hand, but the area still appears to have the highest crime rate in the south east, and is covered in racist graffiti and boarded up houses. There are many chavs in Castlefield, just becuase they aint English doesn’t mean they can’t be chavs! They are just as bad with their drug habits, and voilence.
Micklefield, on the other side of town is not quite as bad, and houses a friendly afro caribbean community, and less friendly white community. Both have a chavvie dress sense, however, and appear to enjoy gun crime and gang fights.
The “rudeboiz” dresscode is usually:
soveriegn rings on as many fingers as possible, have a flat-peaked cap pearched on their head at a strange angle (WHY?????) shitty traksiuts sometimes hoodies with hoods up (presumable to disguise themselves so they can get away with the crime they are about to commit) stolen nike tn/airforce one trainers or for the posher ones baby blue timberland boots with fake evisu jeans.
Rudegalz dresscode: Slicked back gelled hair/ gelled into side ponytail, sometimes fake Von Dutch caps, the gold clowns weren’t that common here at first but now seem to be a favoured chav item, aswell as the big hoop earings with silver disco ball blobs on the end – nice! Then either tee -shirts with collars up and baggy trackies, or very low cut tops and mini skirts.
Ofcourse, “innit” is quoted at the end of every sentence, and other words are used such as “safe, bredrin, heavy, buff” etc. and a pass time is taking the piss out of educated people “cos they’re bent innit”.
The town centre is a dump aswell, and needs tarting up, and yes, the mental health patients need rounding up and keeping in one place, hopefully out of the publics way. I have experienced some problems with the tramps and mental cases including a man shouting random abuse and jumping up and down on the spot, and a woman cowering in a corner under the flyover near the octagon shopping centre, making strange barking noises at anyone who cared to pass. And yes there are quite a few attempted suicides on the High Street, (I wonder why). And my friend was mugged whilst walking along Desborough road toward the town centre in broad daylight.
Overall the place is just a large pile of crap in a valley in the middle of the Buckinghamshire chilterns, just where you would expect a nice town, why is it here????? The chav population is definetely on the increase and will soon be level with Slough’s.

well interesting reading on all sides… i agree with most of the commentsmade after about wycombe.it is an english town, get over it, the whole of england is wank, in built up areas… I previously lived on green st, i was told it was notorious for crime but i never experienced it, although a raping and murder did happen along the road…n il tell u its weird being a white person and actually being the minority urself, but saying that racism does still exist so dont be so silly to say it doesnt, and infact i notice that the atitude comes from the east… not white ppl… however who gives a fuck most ppl keep themsleves to themselves and yes we have some loopy crack heads but damn where arnt they? also wycombe was a major player in crack n such in 80s n 90s due to its links to rivers and london… anyways could go on forever bout wycombe, but its a newly refurbished town but u know wanting mini city status’ isnt always and good thing and attracts the troubles have, on a smaller scale… anyways 1 last thing, it is a good place actually compared to reading lol…

Really cannot believe that you think High Wycombe is that bad. Sure it has anti-social activity and people that are a little wierd in places. But everything you’ve talked about is common up and down the country. High Wycombe is beautiful and I like living here

I work in dashwood avenue and it is a shit hole. People live like shit, drive like shit and act like idiots. It’s probably only 25% of the residents though. But enough to make it a dump.
You see a lot of drug abuse, drunks (at 08.30 in the morning). Society failed this area about 30 years ago and never looked back. It’s sad.

i) fact higher proportion of good schools consistently in the top of the schools league table than any other town in the UK outside London,oxford and Birmingham. Wycombe Abbey girls school, challoners, RGS and John Hampden are consistently in the top echelons.
ii) the town has a distinguished history as a market town and home of Hampden, Disraeli,Penn and Dashwood to name a few upper class residents.
iii) The town is leafy and set in rolling hills> perhaps all the drugs your retarded racist brain has been engaging in has caused you and your fellow idiot, cheeky chavvie to have hallucinations which cause you to see a different town to the rest of us.
iv) wycombe has quiet well maintained roads with easy access to the hospital, town, and many open places of greenery such as poets corner and the multitude of cricket pitches.where much to your dismay kids of all races play soccer and cricket. Not for mixing are you?
v) and im wondering how much more cosmopolitan a town can be before you agree it doesnt have “racial divisions”. pakistanis, indians, st vicentese, ghanians, english,Polish, lithianian, estonian and west indian people live side by side in harmony.

Ive nevere heard of a blind person being spat on in wycombe , something which happened twice in risboro recently. Or of a 40 man kebab shop brawl where a man was killed as happened in henley. Its never happened in wycombe.

I think that your poor grammar and spelling (irony??) illustrates why people think High Wycombe is a deprived, poorly educated, town of chavs.
It has nothing to do with race or social status (I was raised in a poor mining village outside of ‘gun-crazy’ Nottingham before you think I am on a high horse), it boils down to the actions and mentality of the residents and how they treat their town, which is with complete disregard and utter disrespect.

Hi Idiot. Wycombe may not be as bad as this review says. I really wouldn’t call it a leafy posh coutnryside town though. Regardless of the ethnic make up of estates such as Micklefield, Castlefield Bowerdean etc, they are areas of high deprivation, and Wycombe contains a high amount of deprivation when compared to other towns in the southeast.
This can be masked when looking at district statistics, by the affluence of areas surrounding the town (which are included in average deprivation figures for the Wycombe district as a whole). If you go on upmystreet.co.uk you will find crime levels are also above average and this is including posh nearby places like Marlow, Princes Risborough etc in the overall average statistics!!! The town itself is NOT a nice place. Castlefield inparticular is one of the most poverty stricken and desperate areas I’ve seen (and I’ve lived in Moss Side and Camberwell near Brixton).
Sadly, race relations in Wycombe are not good, and there have been riots in the past, as well as the obvious more recent terrorism arrests. Admittedly the town centre is a lot better than before Eden and the other new developments, but sadly this is not enough to sort out a town which has all the elements of inner city problems.

The fact is recent credible studies have highlighted Wycombe as the leafy, posh countryside town it is. Its very much a middle class commuter town and one rich in history. Disraeli is buried here and there are county estates a plenty to visit including the aforementioned Hughenden manor.
Checkers is 9 miles outside Wycombe. Marlow is 3 miles away. All in Wycombe is a beautiful town to look at. Sure Desborough Road and a few enclaves in Micklefield are not full of pleasent people but take a look at the schools in the area. Wycombe as a town has more high rating historical schools pound for pound than any other town outside London and B’ham in the UK. RGS, John Hampden, Wycombe Abbey (a former no 1 on the national schools list) , Wycombe High School, Challoners etc etc. Plus we have so many open green places and the £250 million new shopping centre.
All in I find the only people who call Wycombe a dump are white racists bitter that a succesfull vibrant 20,000 strong (in a town of 200,000) asian community is present in the town.
THat all said the Desborough Road area is a blight on an otherwise very pleasent town and has more winos , pikeys and drug addicts on it than just about any other single street I seen. But does that mean a whole town should be blighted? NO

The comparison between wycombe and seer green is utterly laughable as the towns bear no demographic similarities whatsoever in terms of size and types of housing. The problems found in the town centre and on the estates of high wycombe are typical of those experienced in towns of a similar size up and down the country, but living in a delightful small town such as beaconsfield these issues are ones which you only read about.

the single greatest contradiction to beaconsfield( i have a place there!), i know ive said it before but it needs repeating, the difference is amazing! gerrards cross,seer green, beaconsfield, -then high wycombe! its like listening to a beautiful piece of music on vinyl, only to hit a big scratch/warp! its rough im telling you-and with the most crummy excuse for a university anywhere in England!-no wonder Brunel pulled out!!
Ultimately a very hard area, as to the northern town-no its so expensive-unbelievable but true-look at abercrombie green st-look at the prices your jaw will drop!-and they have customers waiting too, its either how desperate are they, or do they really know what hell awaits them !?
