Where do i start?
Bracknell, the home of chavs, ranging from the hideous town centre to the sprawled council estates which make up this no.1 chavspot. I don’t know if many of you know bracknell, but it’s situated in the royal county of Berkshire located near the affluent areas of Wokingham and Windsor. Bracknell is the exception. Ever since the first concrete slab was laid (on the priestwood estate i guess), this town has gone from bad to worse. These estates house the London overspill and Bracknell is originally a cheap council town.
Take a walk down the grey,depressing High Street, what do you see? Well,apart from a sea of burberry caps, prams, gold chav earrings, and chavs all situated under a cloud of smoke, there is nothing. Careful not to walk into the latest 16 year old mother claiming benefit, otherwise her 14 year old boyfriend and 2 year old kid might get rowdy :0 Mac Donalds is the famous hunting ground for little shits aged 12-17. Expect a hostile environment if you are a non-chav and you walk into there.
Bracknell is known to have one of the highest teenage pregnancies rate in the U.K. ,its a fact. The average age of being a mother here is 14.3 i guess. I expext the boys are too scared to walk into a shop and buy jonnies. Each estate was built with it’s own estate shopping parade, there are many in Bracknell. The local group of shits claim this area and are found a few paces from the door between the times of 6-10 at night. This is their prime time to BEG the good and honest locals to buy their red square/breezers/lambrini and not forgetting lambert/sovereign/mayfair. Say no to them, and expect abuse ranging from “you caaaaaan***t” to “oi wa*ker”.
I can’t stress enough….do not venture out onto Great hollands, Bullbrook, Priestwood, Easthampstead, Wildridings and mount pleasant estates at night. You will be fighting for your life. These are notorious drug areas with high crime rates. Yes, there are some nice areas to these estates,but the bulk of these areas are downtrodden, neglected and crime is rife. Gold clown wearing slags tend to dominate the estate parks, especially when bunking off lessons at brackendale school. You can expect to find a range of chavs on the local bee line bus which maraudes the estates collecting all the chavs and dumping them off at the run down bus stop on the Bracknell inner ring road. On a typical Saturday shopping trip, these chavs tend to steal anything and everything from the town centre, beware bentalls. Bracknells town centre is a joke. It is made out of a giant cement mixer which spilt it’s load of nasty concrete in a strategic position. All of the centre is pedestrianised,with many underpasses and walkways linking the estates to the centre. Graffiti removal teams hae to be on their toes 24/7 due to the prolific graffit problem found here. If you ever visit chavnell town centre, expect to see grey, ALOT OF IT. Tower blocks will loom over you and you will feel intimidated. Need i say more? Bracknell is a dump
Bracknell isnt that bad, Yeah it might be a bit Shit but its not that bad, ive lived her for 14 years and ive never been assulted or raped… lol… There might be a f**k load of chavs but who gives a shit.

That is exactly it, Bracknellites never go anywhere else! They stay in Bracknell forever! They hang around town, they drink in the filthy pubs and go to the sad ‘over 25/30′s clubs’ which is all there is! Note to all Bracknell-ites – there is a reason that you don’t see quality names of bars, restaurants etc in Bracknell – because no-one in their right mind would choose to go to Bracknell for an eveing out, and the locals probably couldn’t get their benefits to stretch to anything more than a McD’s. Can you imagine Bracknellites with their gold claddagh earrings and gold clown necklaces amongst normal self respecting families? NO.
No well respected high street retgailer would open a store there, their stock would be pilfered within days from the theiving scum who hang around the town.
I lived in Bracknell for 11 years, went to school in Bracknell, however have now left the area completely – wahey!
It is a grey concrete mess that should be bulldozed! I have to visit the area unfortunately to see friends sometimes but that’s it.
Everywhere you look, teenage mums, unemployed, drug abusers, theives. The list is endless. I log onto facebook and see all the people I used to go to school with either moaning about their 5th child, the council has stopped their benefit, or seeing photos of skank chavs acting like complete slags frequenting the filthy pubs. It’s gross.
There are some girls I went to school with who seriously are on their 4th / 5th kid – seriously, fookin use contraception. Hideous!
Wake up, Bracknell is one big mass of benefit frauding and uneducated people.
Apologies if you are not a benefit fraud living in Bracknell, however you must be uneducated if you think that it is a nice place to live.

I left Bracknell 13 years ago after being born and bred there for 27 years; and it was the best move I have ever made. It still amazes me how people still defend it – do they ever actually visit anywhere else and see what a real town offers – e.g. clothes shops, wine bars, restaurants (other than Curry houses and McDonalds). Bracknell is full of temp £1 type stores and charity shops. There are no decent restaurants. No decent bars. Go out after 5pm and it’s a ghost town.
The people of Bracknell still cling to the promise that it’s goign to be regenerated soon – yea right – they were ssaying that when I first moved there 30 years ago (note that ‘WYRM’ mentiions this is his post – 4 years ago and yet still nothing!).
And then there’s the standard excuse that all bracknell occupants are taught by heart at school “but we live near London”. like that makes it all OK for having nothing going for the town they live in.
People of Bracknell – you can defend it as much as you like; but I lived there – I know exactly what it’s like and that’s why I moved. I still return (unfortuanetly; to visit friends) and it’s not changed at all. Oops sorry – yes it has – there are now many, many more empty office buildings – my appologies. Still if you like paying a fortune to live in a shit town that’s up to you. But at least open your eyes and be honest – ITS CRAP!!!!
My offices are moving to Bracknell and I cannot wait. I’m so excited I bought some party trousers.
We’re having a big welcome-to-the-area drinks and it should be really top fun. Does anyone know where I can whet my whistle? We were sold the offices based on its proximity to the Fat Duck and the Ascot races.
Also, and excuse the pun, but what are the phillies of Bracknell like? We often peruse the town as a ‘rabble’ full of high spirits (and some not so great ones…) so where are the best places to go? One of our party likes ladies from east Europe and another just likes the ladies.

I have lived in Bracknell for 19 years and I do partially agree with some of the comments about the area such as Priestwood, Great Hollands etc. I also agree in part to the orginal article about teenage pregnancy in the area, I know quite a few young teenage mother’s who I used to go to school with. Some of the people who have posted seem to have no common sense at all. I am currently living in Bournemouth and everyone associates Bournemouth as being a “nice” town although Bournemouth is far from a “nice” town, it seems like children within this area dont go to school. There are teenagers walking around town when they are meant to be at school. There are teenage mothers everywhere, every time you walk down the street you are likely to see a teenage mother. The amount of drugs in this area is horrendous there are men in the street with there children trying to sell you drugs, random people walking up to you in the street and asking if you want to buy drugs, this has never happened to me in Bracknell. The amount of tramps asking you for money is just as bad. I will also admit that some areas of Bournemouth are nice although like every place there are also bad places. Great Hollands is not as bad as it used to be, I also agree that all the young youths just go to South Hill and get drunk but there are places which are far worse.
I have lived in Bracknell for most of my life (30 Year) in that time I have lived in Great Hollands, Easthampstead and now Priestwood. Athough I agree that Bracknell town centre needs regeneration I completely disagree with the rest of the comments. Bracknell is by and large a friendly town, apart from the youth maybe; who all seem to think they live in a Kanye West video and will one day magically be driving a merc with out having to put any effort in. I have always had friendly and helpful neibours who will always pitch in an look out for each other. I love living in Bracknell and don’t intent to leave anytime soon, chav town or not.
Excuse me not everyone in Bracknell is like that if you took the time to get to know the people then maybe you will realise that we are a nice town with nice people. Sure we have our fair share of chavs but your saying no one else in England does. Im 15 and i havent had any problems, with school or going into town the only reason something will happen to you if you say something stupid like this. You have embaressed yourself. Im not defending our town because yeah there are some things that need to be sorted out but you dont need to go slagging it off to the whole country. Haha and i see people are slagging of Easthampstead Park school i go there, im passing every subject with flying colours. We have got an amazing new headteacher and yeah sure it wasnt the best school but then neither was Brackenhale a few years ago. Get a life not everythings perfect atleast we have the decency to admit it and do something about it !! get over yourself !
I have lived in Bracknell for 21 years, the regeneration has been talked about since the mid eighties.

erm.. a late 1970′s council estate. not the worst in town, but still not great. just don’t leave your front door open, put it that way. In the late 1990′s the ‘craown wood flasher’ was notrious in these parts. He was caught and sent down. The local shops were once called… ‘ Narcotic Beirut’. If you have any sense you’ll work out why this is the case!!

Oh, and to everyone who writes ‘its’ when they mean ‘it is’, you should learn to put some apostrophes in there too. Hope you enjoyed that little lesson on how to write kiddies.

Bracknell is a shithole.
There’s supposed to have been a million pound regeneration of the town centre, but that was about 6 years ago and all that’s been done is take the overhang off the buildings around where Costa Coffee is now. Other than that and different shops it looks exactly the same as it did when I came to Braclknell 11 years ago.
And then you have the little runts from Easthampstead Park School (shit school btw) who all try and flood on the bus as one huge wave without letting anyone off. So an 80 year old lady has push her way through the mass to get off. God help you if you get on the 3.10pm 159 bus from the main bus stop ’cause the two stops between Viking and Vandyke will be flooded with kids waiting for the bus by the time it comes round at 3.25.
I agree with the original post. Braknell is truly a shithole. To all those who defend Bracknell, you are wrong. You NEED to open your eyes and take things with a pinch of salt.

@ J … Stop defending Bracknell. I have actually been assaulted by a 14 year old outside the Bullbrook shops. There is my proof. I am extremely intimidated every time I come into the town centre or the estates at night. Priestwood happens to be one of the worst.
Priestwood – Predominantly a 1950′s London overspill council estate, cramped and built with narrow roads (as they didn’t predict the rise in the use of motor vehicles back then). The car boom has made it impossible to drive down moordale avenue. It’s like driving down Coronation street, cramped as you like. But that doesn’t make it ‘rough’. What does is the youth, and the ‘council’ young adults. Hinged on benefits, these young council placed adults will rob you of ANYTHING, yes anything. I have known some one to rob a FENCE PANEL from a house in Garth, YES a FENCE PANEL. Not that it is worth much money. The kids loiter near the local shops and circle you on their bmx’s with hoods up. If you don’t supply them, they pelt you with eggs. I have known 15 year olds with pistols (yes, guns) on the estate. The london crimewave has hit this depressing north bracknell slum.
Bullbrook – Preistwoods easterly neighbour, divided by Garth Hill school. Numerous fights and gang warefare have taken place in this school. Local papers such as the Bracknell standard have highlighted this. There seems to be a war between the reddies (priestwood red brick council) and the ‘yella manzdem’ (bullbrook yellow brick council). In 2006, 2 youths got serious injuries from a large organised gang fight outside the running ‘orse pub.
Great Hollands – don’t really need to say much! grey sprawlling maze of council ‘ouziz with no front gardens and quite frankly SHIT communal facilities. The flats on the estate are dreary. This estate has the highest mugging/burglary rate in mid Berkshire (thames valley police source).
Easthampstead – tower o tower. Point royal dominates the skyline, leaving a crust of madness. Crack head young adults hang around in the stairwells ‘scoring’ their latest batch. The housing on the estate is in disrepair. Has the same style as Preistshit.
Wildridings – Great Hollands lookalike closer to the town. Another shithole. The locals call it ‘LSD heaven’, numerous psychadellic drugs have been widespread. The alleyways in the estate attract criminals. Once in the summer of 07′ I was attacked by a chav with his rottweiler on this estate, near the shops. I haven’t returned…….
Birch Hill and Hanworth – run down shitholes in a forest.

This is really stereotypical. I live in priestwood in a nice, large house right by the park. I’ve walked through it at night, there’s nobody there. I’ve lived here all my life and i’ve only ever seen 2 teenage mothers. The town centre isn’t that bad, yes its bland, but its not bad at all. We’re not all chavs you know, I’m not. I completely agree with DB, you’re a peice of shit, you know nothing, come live here and you’ll see its not that bad. Your stupidly prejudiced. You shouldn’t be so stereotypical, I hate it when people say its full of chavs, its not, there are people there who don’t go by stereo types, I really can’t stress the fact that Bracknell isn’t a bad place to live. Its Brakenhale noob, get it right. And by the way, you are extremely steriotypical. I go to Ranelagh in Bracknell, which happens to be one of the best schools in England, and im not a chav. Its true, Bracknell is generally a concrete piece of shit, but you shouldnt be prejudiced about people you do not know. Point made, have a good life.
