I have spotted alot of spelling mistakes in this review of Bracknell. I assume that it was written by an angry 18 year old "emo" who gets beaten up constantly. I live in Reading and on the edge of a rough council estate where i spent most of my youth years and now im a youth worker at the age of 20. I could of been classed as a chav then and perhaps now as i wear Nike trainers and Ralph Lauren polos, but i guess thats negative stereotyping naive and scared people like the person who wrote thise article probably is (The main article).

Bracknell is mostly a dump, but there are worst places - Reading isn't exactly heaven, and Slough is mostly a lot worse than Bracknell. Some parts of Bracknell, like Warfield and Martins Heron, are quite decent middle class areas.

LOL at how over the top this article is, i live in martins heron and i've lived here for almost 7 years now.. and yes fair enough i agree that bracknell is not really the nicest place around... but "fighting for your life" come on seriously, a lot of my family is from south east london, now THAT is fighting for your life, like somebody above said you are alot safer in bracknell then alot of places in london, but anyways, Bracknell does have a lot of chavs, and yes the town centre is pretty gross, but all in all its just a working class area, personally, when i first moved to bracknell i thought the area was an absolute dump at first glance, but honestly the crime rates really arent that high, and it really isnt such a bad place as this article says.

I find that the people who are leaving Bad comments about Bracknell have either come from very posh areas or have never actually lived in rough ones before!
I moved here 4 years ago and have lived in Easthampstead, Harmans Water, and Great Hollands and all are lovely!
I have had no trouble at all in Bracknell, and I am frankly a huge hippy :D

Most people here aren't chavs, in fact, quite the opposite. Non of my friends are chavs, and you may see a few in the town centre, but then thats any town in the world! haha!
I think the person who wrote article this has obviously never left their little mansion in Ascot before ;)

I have lived in some bad areas, and I can tell you now Bracknell is heaven! Love it here!

I've lived in Bracknell since I was 7, Schooled at Brakenhale Comp. and can see the humour in the original article.

I think a lot of towns appear the same to anyone who doesn't look for good and as the saying goes "it's easy to criticise".

Bracknell is the home to many large companies HQ's so the people and jobs here are working and live close by, if not IN Bracknell.

I have never claimed benefits, have worked since I was 14 in a job of some sort and currently own a home in the Birch Hill area, and am currently looking to buy bigger - in Bracknell.
My current job frequently takes me from Bristol to Cambridge, and inside London and I rarely see anything that looks much different to the setup we have here, if not worse: less greenery, more crowds, higher house prices and nothing but towering flats everywhere! (I'm sure we only have one main tower of flats here, greater than 3 floors, away from the small town centre and that is a landmark -Point Royal which is famous!!)

The traffic here is fair, rush hours on main roads can be pretty painful, but flowing. When you are a local its fairly easy to avoid :) ..and where isn't busy at rush hour nowadays?

M4 & M3 access is excellent, and back routes when these are bad are plentiful via Ascot, the A30 and Maidenhead.

I did my A-Levels but got put off doing a degree by "new" Labour (the icon of chavness in my opinion) and so worked for various large companies based in and around Bracknell (Hewlett Packard, Honeywell etc). Did an apprenticeship worked my way through some harder times and now earn much higher than average wage. And I was brought up in a single parent household where my mother struggled with us 3 and a mortgage.

I don't think it's fair to say that people in an area are bad because of the area, maybe they'd have been that way wherever they had grown up. I even think that sometimes cheaper areas are where the claimants are usually housed, and that could have a part to play here, as I find the mentality of the parents can easily influence their offsprings and that is everywhere.

All in all lots of areas of Bracknell come from a bad experience that is blown way out of proportion, like the shark attack thing when jaws was filmed. Basically, come and live in Bracknell, and give it a chance and you'll have a normal time, hopefully good, but don't have preconceived notions, as thats not fair on anything.

As far as I know the person whom this article was written by may be some unsociable, moany, unrealistic, molly coddled snob who moans about anything, or just having a bad week when this post was conceived.
Hopefully people are clever enough to know that one persons opinion are easily skewed from the truth by a single experience, be it positive or negative.

High property development in Bracknell shows how desirable to live here it is, and if the Olympics bid wasn't received the town would be improved already. There just aren't enough skilled over here to do the Olympics and other large projects for a fair price. it'll come soon after the Olympics are finished - hopefully.

I think that a system that is making it nigh on impossible for younger workers to have kids and still afford a mortgage and live a good life, let alone get a mortgage at a young age's wage, ...then offering them a free house if they have kids, is to blame for the general condition in society. If you want a place of your own and not work hard for it - have a kid with any bloke who is stupid enough to do it. - viola! eradicate the impossibility of a wage buying the smallest house and the low earners can buy it and progress without claiming, instead of letting the entrepreneurs swallow them all up, then want more than mortgage payments to rent them from them - its a joke system really, c'mon :)

Some of your observations are accurate, but could be applied to many British towns now. Many other comments are grossly exaggerated, however.
Kids love growing up in Bracknell because the estates are far from busy roads and they're not as crime-ridden as you imply. You're much safer in Bracknell than you'd be in most of London.
It's a shame your inaccurate rant overshadows what in other respects is a fair description of working class Britain - not just Bracknell. Bracknell appears at first glance a town dominated on the High street by working class chavs - true, the town centre is an eyesore. But you make no mention of the unseen majority of middle class suburban professionals getting on with more constructive things. Perhaps you should research your articles more thoroughly rather than writing unsubstantiated opinions like "I gues". And include a broader base of opinions as you've obviously been given a pretty one-sided image of this town

I've lived in bracknell for the past 6 years or so and i don't think it's too bad. Admitted it hasn't got a good reputation, but it's not that bad.
I've got friends in Great Hollands, Easthampsted, Bullbrook and Preistwood and it's not as bad as it is portrayed. I've been out there at night before and wasn't left "fighting for my life" at all.
Untill you've actually lived in Bracknell and got to know the area, you're fine.

Wanna know a bad area? Norrey's Avenue in Wokingham. Have at it.
