Whitehawk and neighbouring chav-hole Moulsecoomb are the third world areas of Sussex…
There is nothing good that I can say about the ‘Hawkers’. The area is a dive. Hawkers have yet been able to grasp the English language. Instead, everything they say has to end in ‘innit’ or ‘nah, mate’.
The little chav kids think they really are something special, and the parents, well, they are a lost cause. Tattoo’d to the nines, more fat than you could imagine, cheap clothes that smell of cigarettes, body odour and have less intelligence than a concrete slab. They make Waynetta Slob look attractive in comparison.
Crime in this area is high – domestics, robbery, shoplifting, vehicle/violent crime are common. Even though the police try to restore order in the chavvy little area, they are greeted with abuse. With the mere sight of anything police related people look out their windows, come out of their chav council houses, and the little scroats gather round trying to look hard in front of the police.
I had the ‘pleasure’ of working in Whitehawk for one night and was amazed at how idiotic a lot of the kids are. I was approached by a spotty Blazin’ Squad wannabe who called himself ‘the King’. The lad hadn’t even finished school. Twat.
Baseball caps worn in an unfashionable way, Burberry, shell suits, Luis Vuitton, Reebok classics, McKenzie and lots of jewellery are the norm with chavlings. The boys have greasy hair that has been bleached with domestos and the girls have more colours in their hair than a rainbow.
Teenage pregnancy in the ‘Hawk is high. Example: Wayne shags Crystal for a dare one night when they attend a chav party, drinking White Lightning. Wayne boasts that he’s the ‘daddy in town’ for getting laid. Nine months later he is, only he is no longer around to adjust to fatherhood thus leaving Crystal to bring up Courtney/Casey/Bobby/Page/Britney or whatever the poor kid has been named with help from the social.
It’s rare to see a vehicle with four wheels or with valid car tax. If for some strange reason you have to venture into Whitehawk, don’t leave your car unattended. The chavs can sense fresh meat and will take your car or anything within it seconds after you have disappeared.
I could go on, but to sum it up – Whitehawk is a scum filled place, with no hopers who either already are or will end up on the dole.
I’m pleased that I live in Hove, even if it is only a few miles away from the Third World.
UPDATE FROM CHAVTOWNS ADMINWould you believe it? A ‘hawker has contacted me asking for the personal details of Mr E, the user who posted this article. I can only speculate on why she needs this information, to get a lynch mob together perhaps? She has also contacted Sussex Police. What she expects them to do I do not know, is slagging off ‘hawkers a criminal offence? Here is her email and my reply for your delectation!

I am contacting you to complain about the the item on your website (named above) about the people of the Whitehawk estate in Brighton. This has been drawn to my attention by some young people who have had the item circulated.
Whitehawk is one of the mosr deprived areas in Britain and does suffer from some of the anti-social behaviour described, but publishing this kind of hate filled invective is not the way to make things better. The children in Whitehawk already suffer from prejudice against them because of the estate’s reputation and this article has caused great offence and hurt. It does nothing to help the problems on this estate – in fact could make things worse.
The writer Mr E should be asked to withdraw his comments and apologise for the offence he has caused. If not, he should have the courage of his convictions and publish his real name and contact details.

I’ve lived in Hove for five years and I hate the f**king place, it’s full of pretentious middle class pissheads, who seem to think they’re better than everyone else, and for some strange reason think that Hove is really cool LOL. Mike Weatherly is the loved local mp, and that says it all really, doesn’t it, a Tory prat who loves to listen to crap cartoon rock “music” by another Tory prat, and has just made being homeless more or less illegal with his nasty out lawing of squatting rights, so more people are now sleeping rough in St. Ann’s Well’s Gardens, and on the Western Road in freezing weather! hey thanks Mike, well done you Tory c**t. I’m moving to BRIGHTON in a couple of weeks, and can’t wait to get out of Hove……Actually. In truth there is good and bad in every area where people are concerned but I bet on The Whitehawk people are more honest, and aren’t like the two faced Tory prats in Hove!
I used to go to school at Whitehawk – 1944/48. I lived just off the estate in Reading Road. The estate was a normal friendly working class area. With most of the teachers being ex service men, diciplin was quite stricked – the ‘strap’ was always there and the headmaster had a ‘cane’.
A couple of years ago, I returned to Whitehawk on my motorcycle, ‘just to have a look’.
I was surprised to find the whole estate had been rebuilt – but ‘my’ school was still there. I pulled up near some youngsters, intending to ask them about the school. They drew away from me, then I noticed faces looking from behind windows, then a man in track suit trousers and vest came out of his house, stood by the wrecked car in his garden and stared at me in a very hostile manner.
I left Whitehaws and will not return, preferring to keep my memories of the ‘old’ Whitehawk.
I am now sorry that I ‘Googled’ Whitehawk.
I’ve lived in Whitehawk my whole life and i’m 19 years old now and far from the descripstion you have in your head.. i love the way you only write the negatives but then but your probably a piece trash that think everything is stereotypical.
if you must know about the reality of whitehawk then ill fill you in on a few details. you can walk around in your pjs if your cant be bothered to get dress and no one even looks or thinks twice (where as hove or other ‘posh’ areas stick there nose up and look down on you because they think there better then everyone else. Everyone knows everyone, and has your back with everything, its like one huge family. i feel so safe walking the streets late at night in whitehawk i dont get the slightest bit paranoid but other places i do. I dress differently compare to many of my friends in whitehawk, you think all whitehawkers where Trackies and dress like chavs, well I’m a whitehawker and my favorite shoes are my Dr martins and my converse and, i have millions of clothes and the only ‘chavy’ clothes i have is my cosey trackie bottoms so explain that one for me then? In hove or other posh areas you would be taken the piss out of for wearing odd things that people in that area didn’t. I know that for a fact as well because I’ve got friends in hove. So why is it whitehawk don’t? just because we come from not so well of background dosent mean that were low life scum it means that we have to work for things that we want or need but that makes us the better people, not the people who look down on us because they’ve already got everything a the palm of there hand, there not a real person because they’ve never had to do anything for them selfs just always got it provided. when i was younger i had nothing growing up and all my ‘hove’ friends would have the best of things and it made me really sad but not everyone if fortunate enough but it gives you the push to want to want to achieve something better. we cant help were we live or how we’ve been brought up. To be fair, people are saying that there’s no use slagging an area off etc etc, but the website is called ‘Chav Towns’, what did you expect…? In relation to Whitehawk, Yesterday a 12 year old boy asked me for my number and then said if I went behind the bus garage with him id have the best shag of my life. Pure class!
One thing that has not been mentioned about Whitehawk either by the author of the blog post or by those who have commented is how beautiful Whitehawk is. I don’t live in Whitehawk but have an allotment there and each time I go up the hill my breath is taken away by the beauty of the place! There’s the sea and the Marina, and then as you walk down Whitehawk Hill Road you can see the Pier… Then into Kemptown, with some magnificent Grade II listed buildings. It’s just the best place in Brighton for a day out, in my view. Hove just doesn’t compare on account of being flat, so no views.

I live in Whitehalk and I have never had any hassle and many people say it has improved, so I guess I made the right move. Its cheap to buy and just like Brixton is going up in value. Recently I used a crime compassion website and saw that Goldstone Villas in Hove had more crime then my Whitehalk road.

I live in Whitehawk. I moved here from the USA to be with my partner who bought our home 2 years ago after relocating from London. We made our choice because we needed an affordable mortgage because of the financial challenges that come with starting a new family. We thought we could make a difference by being an example and by keeping our yard lovely and taking the time to make our home look warm and inviting. The problem is, nobody else feels that way. The low-life white-trash that live around us toss their garbage onto the street, fight with each other like drugged up savages, allow their dogs to foul the sidewalks with excrement and they decorate the street signs and fences with graffiti. If you say something about their behaviour, they threaten you or your property. The few decent neighbours we have live in fear and hide behind their curtains. Whitehawk is a s**t-hole and always will be because the people are s**t. As soon as our interior renovations are complete, we will sell and move away and never look back.

I have just moved into the Whitehawk area; the sentiments of the author are not shared by me or my 3 house-mates.
Having grown up in a suburban middle-class area, void of culture and (incidentally) full of privileged and bigoted s**ts (much like the author of this article) I have nothing but respect for my neighbours and the spirit of community in this area.

To be honest, I do think this article is highly prejudice and to be honest totally uncalled for. Whitehawk mayb have a bad reputation and crime levels may be high, however, it is highly ignorant to generalise the nature of an area due to a minority that live there. I happen to live in ‘chav-hole Moulsecoomb ‘ and personally I love it, my neighbors are friendly, why does it matter what their socio-economic background is? I am currently studying for my degree in nursing, so maybe my personality is more accepting of others than yours, but it takes all sorts to make a world, and we can’t all have the ‘luxury’ of being able born into a families that arent forced to live in underfunded areas (also, having previously studied at King’s College London, I have met many very wealthy people who fix the system to get more money, I think somebody struggling to get a job and stealing something, although still wrong, is far more justifiable don’t you?). Basically, why judge people you don’t know, or could possibly begin to understand, when they themselves have never done anything to you or given you reason to be so spiteful. Your comments are arrogant and unnecessary. Talking like that almost justifies a ‘lynch mob’. As for the email you recieved, it was very polite, and very mature, unlike your response. What you said somebody didnt agree with, and the woman probably wanted the talk to the person who wrote this article which is completely within her right to be honest! By slagging off an area, not the nicest of areas I admit, you really are making the situation worse, especially if these comments come from a middle-class snob especially one who thinks he is more than is. I think you will also find that in Whitehawk, an area in which I have worked, people are proud to be from there and there is a lot of community spirit. Also this ‘estate’ has been let down a lot by the local council. I would ask you one question MrE have you ever tried to change a ‘habit’? probably not.
