HAILSHAM, EAST SUSSEX

This article has: 46 Comments

This town must be the birhtplace of the Chav!!!

Why??? We have known the “chav” word for ages…decades in fact…..it has always been an insult to be called a chav and many a fight has broken out because of it…….

Hailsham is very near to Eastbourne, but in terms of Chav development…….Hailsham is Light years ahead of anywhere in the area.

A guided tour:_

Chav hangouts:

War Memorial in the centre of town….Any evening of the week you can find the local Chav youth hanging out here. It used to be the place where you could go to get drunk. Very clever the Hailsham Chav’s they just *allegedly* rob the local shop…used to be Spar…right across the road and sit round the memorial getting drunk on the booze they stole.

Leisure Centre/Community centre, yes, the Hailsham chav’s even have the inclination to hang out by the leisure centre. It’s called the Lagoon this is usually a meeting place for the chavettes. Sunday nights are 5 a side football league nights for the chav dads…..we’ve got it all going on in Hailsham.

Local park or Wreck as in Eastbourne…..the summer meeting place of the local youth. You can find them sitting on the merry go round just smoking or getting drunk. Usual place for a shag as well.

Horsebridge wreck…yet another hangout for them, this is for the chavs who live on the other side of town…the so called posher end!

Council offices….very popular of a daytime…they provide customer services for chavs. A must see on the map of Hailsham.

Health centre…for an idea of the extent to which the chavs have intergrated in this town….just stand outside and watch and listen….you will truly be amazed.

Common Pond…..Common being the operative word…..even the ducks wear fake burberry and bling bling……..if you think that’s bad…check out the swans!

Quintins Shopping centre/ St mary’s walk.
These deserve a special note of attention…This is chav haven as far as Hailsham is concerned. You get a chav every 30 seconds here. Chav mums, Chav grans, Chave great grans….Chav generations flock here. The Co-op….chav central of a weekend. In fact the Co-op is *allegedly* run by the chavs! Annabelles the restaurant……more like caff (in my opinion). Well if you can see through the haze of smoke..you’ll find all manner of chavs in there…they come to discuss life on the dole and chavgossip over a fag, full english breakfast, fag, and a cup of tea with a fag. The pound shop and the charity shops are really popular as is the world renowned designer store Quality seconds or QS to you and me…..I’m sure you all know it…the chavs certainly do.

Chav pubs….(Allegedly) The Terminus/The George(*allegedly* sadly burnt by its *alleged* chav owner) The Corn exchange/The Grenadier and another one opposite the Bp garage on south rd….can’t remember the name…these are really popular with the chav’s.

Chav takeaways….Lucky Star is *allegedly* your one stop for chav chinese and chicken and chips.
Kemer kebab….locally famous *allegedly* for the older chav mum’s who want to get a bit more than a kebab late at night!!
Ken’s Fish and Chips….yes, you should see the queues on a Friday night…chav’s come form all around to get their fish and chips here.

Chav Schools

Marshlands (junior school) Education Chav style

Hailsham Community College (ex Battle Rd) 12-18 Chavs

Chav Estates

Town Farm…breeding ground of the Chav
Diplocks….breeding ground of the lesser Chav

THE DUMP……/ PIKEY PARK

This deserves a special mention….this is run by the CHAV MAFIA…you don’t want to mess with them….even their dogs are hard….the Chav Mafia live next door on the Pikey Park…No houses for them…they still prefer the caravan…..Locals know to steer well clear of this area…there’s town chav’s then caravan chav’s..even the town chav’s don’t mess with the caravan ones.

There is an official chav uniform of trackky bottoms and a jumper….adidas is the preferred one. Used to be Nike, but that went out of fashion. The original chav mum uniform of leggings and a jumper with baby in push chair can still be seen on the streets of Hailsahm….sadly this is becoming a rarity nowadays.

Just to let you know……

Hailsham is the Chav cultural centre of the world, because we have had chav’s in this town for 1396….certain family names….(I will not mention on this site )are famous in the town. They are deeply embeded in the town history. They have been here for generations and there are loads of them……Even the police run scared of certain family names……I s**t you not.

Hailsham has to be one of the birthplaces of the chav…..

As you probably guessed I am not from around here, but I have lived and worked in Hailsham for nearly 12 years. I love it here, I didn’t!! I found moving here culturaly quite a shock!!! This is a tough little town with a good heart. My children were schooled at Marshlands with fantastic results, and I know the school very well through my own involvement. I read with interest the comments made here and felt I needed to say something, yes there are elements of this town which are not to its credit, and yes walking along the high street can be a bit depressing, kids hanging around outside what is now Cost Cutters, spitting and being generally unpleasant and blocking the path. Also seeing more empty than occupied shop units is not exactly inspiring either, but……. I like it here, it has a good feel, and no I don’t live in the posh part, and yes I do have a job, a good job in Hailsham. Its got a lot going for it if people were to bother to look. The schools are now working together to provide the best education possible. They are also working with the different services in the town to make sure people get the help and assistance they need, and the “fun” providers are working with schools and services to provide opportunities for kids of all ages throughout the year, particularly through the holidays. As for the drinking and the hanging around the war memorial in the centre of town………. well I just think we need to get a grip and realise that yes these are disenchanted individuals, but instead of being an arse and bad mouthing the town why don’t you actually do something that might address the problem and make the town a better place for young people – for everybody. If you are not part of the solution then you are most definately part of the problem. You get the society you deserve. We are all responsible for the communities we live in. Don’t bother with the insults, I’m an Essex Girl!!!

It’s people like you making comments like this that gives Hailsham and places like Town Farm & Marshlands school a bad name. I know a couple of people who left Marshlands and are now t uni doing very well for themselves! are you? Attitudes like yours is where prejudice and hatred against races and sexuality start within society snobbery is the worst kind I think!.If you actually visited Marshlands school you would realise that most of the kids and staff there are very nice who are you to judge this town.

The trouble is people fear what they don’t understand and you clearly don’t understand. My family has lived in Hailsham for over 40 years and yes kids hang around the war memorial so what? they haven’t got anything else to do, no job prospects nothing.

May I ask what lovely perfect town you live in? I’m sure it’s got it’s fair share of youngsters hanging around drinking etc unless you live in a detached house in the country if so you cannot comment on Hailsham.

And your use of words are very offensive and labelling like ‘pikey park’, these people are travellers and they live in caravans as this is their way of life, talking of life you need to get one and stop judging, tbh your attitude is worse than any person I have seen in Hailsham.

If you think Hailsham is really this bad, you wouldn’t last 5 minutes in some of the housing estates in Glasgow!

Personally, I was born and bred in Hailsham, and I’m very proud of it thank you very much! I lived on Town Farm and went to White House Primary School. Most of my friends lived there too and the road i lived on backed onto another which made it a close knit community if i’m honest! I left White House and went to a Grammer school so that shows how good the education there is! Some of my friends went to Marshlands and are now off at University studying so your comments on that school made me laugh too! I think you need to take your head out of your arse and place it a little further along the time line love! Every town you go to has a chavy area, and a not so chavy one! Jheeez

Hailsham really was a rather soul crushing place to live. It never inspired any aspirations in me to become anything of any worth, infact the school is forced to spend more time trying to keep people in class and off drugs that it doesn’t spend any time even mentioning the possiblities of University. I’m glad that I left and have made more of myself than I ever even knew was possible. Though vack to the subject at hand… I do think we were using the word ‘chav’ to mean to steal something (“Oi’ you jus’ chavved my pen, you pikey bastard) back before it’s recent connotations arose. (Post cleverly encrypted in a fashion that is unintelligble to chavs).

  5. haha this is funny. Im proud to be from Hailsham

  6. Bethy says:

This was f**king hilarious! The pikey parts were not so funny.
I’ve lived in Town Farm for 7 years and went to Marshlands school and got a pretty good education from there.
To be honest, its not just the “chavs” causing trouble like drinking in public. Most of the alternative lot are just as bad!
I can honestly say that I’m friends with a lot of “chavs” and pikeys” in Hailsham and chavs here are really not as bad as people say they are.
The reason why chavs and the alternative lot go out and cause trouble? its because we’re BORED.
Admit it, there is sweet f**k all to do in Hailsham so we all go out and drink till we can no longer stand on our legs.

    • pikey hater says:

hailshams a horrible place..get out of there your all pikeys…stop complaining u all live sheltered lives

  7. me says:

Oh dear what a funny read, I have read this page from top to bottom and laughed all the way through. Some people can not take anything with a pinch off salt. Yes there are nice people, chavs, pikeys, gypsy, skaters, Goths, emos, alcoholics ect living in hailsham. Some are nice and some not from all groups but get a grip. I live in hailsham and have friends from most if not all, and Hung about in some off these so called chav places as a teenager n I still think it funny. If you can’t take the piss out off yourself then really learn too your life will be so much less stressful.

  8. Better than you says:

Idiot, the word is ‘Rec’ not ‘wreck.’

It is short for ‘recreation ground.’

    You hapless frog faced dolt.

  9. Sal says:

Well that has brightened my day. Haisham is a very poor town and considering this its ok. The Chav division are harmless just a bit different. Would you talk about another division in culture the same way?

  10. chav mullet says:

I lived in Hailsham for 30 years of my life until I managed to escape.and I feel a response is necessary.I married a Hailsham chavette (I have heard all the inbred comments etc.etc.) I have been happily married for many years and feel I got lucky! As I often say to my wife “You can take the chav out of Hailsham but you cant take Hailsham out of the chav!”

  11. Skirt says:

Utterly hilarious… thanks for brightening up my morning :) I think you should update the chavtext to include the new chav cathedral (Tesco)! Thanks also to the illiterate chavs and chavettes for making me laugh so much!

  12. toby millott says:

    diplocks rules

  13. see all says:

I live in Hailsham and on town farm and i find these comments insulting!

My children went to marshlands the so called ‘chav’ school and my eldest has just left school with A +’s, A’s and B’s in her GCSE’s better than some of thier friends in different areas!

Just because someone wears tracksuit bottoms doesn’t make them any lower than anyone else! Some people haven’t got the same income as everyone else and lack of money is nothing to be ashamed of!

your comments are narrowminded, and judgemental of human beings and to be honest that makes you lower than anyone in Hailsham!

  14. Bling says:

Casey…. why bother posting if you clearly can’t spell? Don’t bother.

  15. cyril says:

Hailsham is full of chavs but also some nice people. Chavs can be found and heard 24 hours a day anywhere in the town. I say build a wall and keep them one side while the nice people go the other. The Pikeys are the problem but at least they wallow in their own mess.

  16. the intelligent 1 of hailsham says:

thank you for the most ammusing reading. the only sad thing is that other than 1 other person who has left comments on this site is that you all need to go back to school, none of you can spell properly, pronouse words in the correct way, and have very little or no education whats so ever.
yes hailsham has a lot of the traverling community, so what. ninty per cent of the trouble caused
at night is,nt them it,s your off spring. take a long hard look at the way your bringing up your kids,
the way you all act, before you blame the traverling community for every thing, take a real hard long look at yourselfs. i live in and work in hailsham, it,s the so called townies who think there better than everybody else that are the problem. stop poking your noses in to other peoples lives, get on with your own, and stop being sooooooo sad.

  17. may says:

I have been looking at your comments and am astonished , you berate ‘chav’s’ yet cannot manage to even speak English yourselves. Does that make you better than them or are you equally as lost uneducated and unaware of how the general public see you? No mans an island.

  18. stupid websites says:

em yes hailsham is crap but lest we can do what we want with out a copper round every corner can u and chavs r just chavs leave them be there like a indaged species as the skaters r over taking

  19. casey says:
