Now I hate Woolwich, but there is no escape from it. When I was involved in conducting a survey, one respondent said that a lot of the people in the area are "McDonalds chip eating morons" and she worked in social services. She said that they were "grey with dead eyes" and lived only for their next dole cheque. If only we had an alchemist and visionary like Lee Kwan Yew (a hero of mine since I was a teenager) to turn lead into gold, and not the 9 carat variety. Better still, platinum. He turned a colonial backwater into one of the most sopisticated societies in existence today. Why can't this visionary come from Woolwich and pull themselves from the gutter to the stars? He or She will be seen as a local hero and be seen as someone to look up to and emulate, or will the people of that fuck forsaken garbage dump wallow in their own shit?
