Boscombe, Bournemouth, Dorset
Not quite a council estate but not new to Chav towns, Boscombe was once a nice seaside town, until everyone went away for there holidays and Boscombe became rough. Palmerston Road is for the prostitutes and druggies live in Pokesdowne, chavs have MaccyD’s, Poundland, Wilkinson’s and many antique shops in Pokesdowne. I am from Parkstone in neighbouring Poole but I have friends here and this place made me a chav until I saw sense! Me and my friends (Not even skaters or grungers) have been threatened by a gang saying that they were going to knife us but that never happened. Boscombe Pier is ran down with old toilets with the chains yanked out and other toilets have been closed. King’s Park is gloomy with a half built football stadium and other closed toilets where you can climb over the room and pee on needles. There isn’t just one gang here, but there are loads! Cackers go to Portchester Boys School or Avonbourne Girls School or for the really bad boys, Bicknell (Named after Bessie Bicknell who was interested in Bournemouth’s education) The crescent gardens has always been for drinkers and druggies with one eye asking you if you want to buy weed off them. Don’t go down Walpole Road or into the park at night and if you wait for a train at Pokesdowne, don’t go down to the platform until the train comes, I notice people wait in front of the camera where it is a bit safer (Just)
Southbourne
Sadly the characteristics of urban decay have moved into my dad’s childhood area of Southbourne. In the 1990s they closed the good Beaufort School to send the pupils to Portchester or Avonbourne schools and sold the site to build cheap houses, which singles mums moved with their kids- result, the crime went up and the house prices dropped and the middle classes (And lower) suffered. In Southbourne Cackers live on “The Estate” (Beaufort Estate) “The Mew” (Douglas Mews) or “The close” (Morley Close) or new areas. My mate moved into an average road and hated it their but has gotten used to it. Luckily most of Southbourne is safe still.
If you want my advice from a visitor, stay away!

Having previously lived in Southbourne (dangerously near the Pokesdown end) and making frequent trips to the Boscombe area over the last few years, it’s safe to say that the whole area is swamped with ‘human beings’ that deserve execution. The Boscombe & Southbourne area (and sadly Bournemouth town center also) is where the low life, benefit claiming scum resides.
There you will find disgusting prostitutes, thieves, drug users, recovering drug users, the mentally ill, alkies, paedophiles, young thugs, chav moped riders and and just general resource draining losers that should be stabbed in the face. You will also find a large dose of single ‘mothers’ – those females (often ugly) that got knocked up by desperate or drugged up (or both) males, and have then been left to cope on their own and live off the taxpayers.
Most of the population in the area appears not to work (just go there during the day and observe the sheer number of delinquents ‘hanging around’). In all honesty the whole area should be violated with nuclear radiation; by the time it’s safe to return all of the stupid, f**king pieces of human shit that live there will be dead. Maybe then we could start again.
If I was in control – I would have the whole area ‘cleansed’, which would mean the execution of most of the population in Boscombe & Southbourne. The method of execution I would use, is deadly doses of heroin.
Luckily I am not in control and never will be….
For anyone that wants to go on a rampage and cause damage to another human being…Boscombe is the PERFECT place to go.
this is the biggest load of crap i’ve ever head i cant believe what im hearing morley close the worst thing around there is a couple of boys playing football. Douglas mews is not known as the mew and part of the counsil commity live there so theres no trouble pokesdown trainstation is dead at night. walpole park use to be bad but people dont go there any more. Beaufort Estate isnt rough unless you give the wrong person shitany way is completely closed off, it an eye sore like other estates and theres no reason to go there unless you live there . the person that wrote this obviously cant deal with life and this happens in every town dont like it leave and i recommend coming hear on holiday.
Not to sound like an arse,but youre having a laugh mate. I lived there for ten months,and exactly everything described is correct. Its a dirty alkie and skaghead infested shithole,and needs to be burned to the ground with its mutant population still inhabiting when they do. And then rebuilt. boscombe USED to be the classy area of bournemouth.
It’s not all that bad, lots of regeneration going on in Boscombe. The shopping centre is much better than previous years, the beach and pier look great. OK the surf reef doesn’t work but surfers know the waves are good anyway.
A place is what you make of it.

Horrid company – they may not like freedom of speech but luckily – we are in the UK. Most of Boscombe is run down and dirty, with lots of alcoholics and hookers. But then, most places have that these days. Im used to it being in London.
Boscombe is alright though it is best to steer clear of it at night time but in comparison to many of the towns and estates on this site it a walk in the park. The prossies dont solicit. The dealers are hard to find and I have found it mostly full of old people. Fairly relaxed if you ask me.
Totally agree with your post. Having lived in Bournemouth all my life I have seen how Boscombe has gone down hill. I don’t think anyone who lives there actually works any more. It’s more a like a social welfare asylum for the immigrants, druggies and wasters. A place full of potential families for the the Jeremy Kyle show.
My local doctors surgery in Boscombe (that I have been to since I was born) even has notices up for repeat Methodone prescriptions…. a sad fact that the secretaries there got fed up with speaking to the wasters that they put a notice up!
To think at the age of 18 I used to walk back through Boscombe after a night out at 2 or 3 in the morning on my own and used to feel safe. Now even going there in the daytime is intimidating.
Put a fence round the whole place and sling in some petrol and a match…

I agree. Boscombe is really cool. The people posting these moaning comments either don’t live there or never go there. There is so much to offer in Boscombe. The new cafes that have sprung up are way better than anything else for miles. Bosconova for example attracts all the good looking people in Bournemouth. Trendy surroundings and lovely atmosphere. Boscombe has the best open air market and on Thursdays and Saturdays its jam packed. Unusually everyone is very friendly and people are all accepted like one huge family. If I just walk into Boscombe I can guarantee meeting up with lots of like minded people to talk to. There;s a vibrant art and music scent with the O2 concert hall hosting international stars every week. KFC have opened a fabulous new place in the old bank. There’s an amazing cafe in sea road where you can eat North african food – delicious and it’s spottlessly clean. Hubbly bubbly too. Then Urban Beach is fabulous any day of the week. You can live cheaply in Boscombe too as there are numerous shops at great prices including Primark and Poundland. All the time the area is being redeveloped and improved. There as some stunning Japanese style flats just built over the top of Aldi Supermarket-have to be seen to be believed. I love Boscombe and so does every single person that lives there. Many people may not be aware that some of the drug rehabilitation units have now closed, Dave Wells is redeveloping a massive chunk of Boscombe high street into new shops and homes. I could go on for pages about how amazing Boscombe is. Plus the beach is right there and it has also been completely refurbished and renewed with the best pier in the country. Come on guys – take a look sometime and stop the whingeing.
Last time I saw Dave Wells he was waving a sawn off shotgun at some geezer on the forecourt of his rusty car emporium. Still me ma knows him and says he’s the salt of the earth… but they used to say that about Ronnie Cray didn’t they?
Are we talking about the same Boscombe. Brought up in Southborne, but now live in London. Have lived too in some very rough locations in the US, and have to say would prefer to take my chances in Whitechapel, or for that matter by the Bus Station in downtown Jacksonville (Florida) than Boscombe! Used to sadly live in St Johns Road, and Windsor Rd, and can honestly say that the whole place is a TOTAL dustbin!!
Boscombe is a mixed bag – it isn’t all bad and some of it is rather nice but as a former resident of St. Clements Road I have to agree with the above comments too. Very much a hive of drugs and whores.

Hi , We go to avonbourne school . Despite the bad reputation our school is really good. It is imrpoving constantly.
