Officially, the largest council estate in Europe, it’s the Chaviest of Chav Towns (well ok apart from Paulsgrove (see separate entry under “Pizza bikes –the theft of”) – Leigh Park.
A lot of the chavs haunting Pompey of a weekend come from Leigh Park because it is fairly easy to get the 23 bus “dayn tayn” (translation: down town) of a “Saa’adee” (Saturday).
Greywell Shopping Precinct or “Paarked Prade” (translation: “Park Parade”) as the chavs call it is the epicentre of activity both criminal and anti-social. This is where many chavlings receive their early training in how to “fieve” stuff. (translation – “fieve” – to steal or acquire things from retail establishments when you have not paid for them). They also learn how to threaten strangers into illegally buying them cans of lager and “fags”. There is a handy post office where all the single mums can cash their giros. If you go to the post office in question, you will observe that plenty of space is available for the young chavlings to “let off steam” (translation – run riot annoying everyone including the staff) while their “muvvers” (who incidentally are pack hunters too) talk about how expensive things are in “normal” shops compared to “paaandlaaand” and how their “Dave” has just gone inside again (“F**cking interfering coppers!”)
There are in fact at least three shops of this variety including “paandlaand” itself, together with plenty of benches for the older chavlings to jump all over and participate in foreplay (a.k.a. “chavs cum”) as they look for victims.
Once I was walking through the said shopping centre (unfortunate but necessary) when I was accosted by a small girl of about 4. In perfect chav-speak she said, “ ‘ave yer got twenny pee aw need to fown me muvver” (translation: – could you please supply me with a twenty pence coin of the realm because if I can manage to beg money from another eight people I will be able to afford a burger and chips from the local van so that my mother will have more of her giro left to spend on bling, fags and Tesco’s value vodka?
Visitors to the area should always be aware of this scam and don’t be fooled by that innocent creole-wearing preschooler, believe me they send them out YOUNG to fend for themselves. On the subject of creoles, a friend of mine recently alerted me to the fact that in Argos they sell “Mummy and Me” creole sets – bleaaargh!!!!
Whilst I’m on the subject, how many sets of creoles on one chavette is the maximum ever spotted I wonder? Whilst travelling on the buses through Leigh Park I often spot chavettes wearing no less than FOUR SETS in graduated sizes of course!
On a not-so-humorous note just up the road from Park Parade is the notorious estate-within-an-estate “The Warren” (see entry under “evil hellhole arsonist training camp”) where a man was recently drenched in petrol and burned alive (he survived – just) by a gang of teenage thugs whilst he was minding his own business on a park bench. Indeed, every time I have had the misfortune to have to go there something has been either burned, burning or about to be burned.

Funny I lived in Leigh Park 32 years, from birth. I often hear from outsiders how bad Leigh Park is when they ask me where I live. Well I always have to tell them how I have never experienced anything bad all my life here. I have never felt threatened and been abused. In fact the only time I have been threatened by anyone anti social it was in Waterlooville or Portsmouth.
Yes some things have happened around here that is anti social by the minority, but nothing worse than anywhere else in the country. Leigh Park has a huge population so when something does happen it is bound to be heard about. Leigh Park does not deserve the reputation that it has.

Firstly i have lived in leigh park for 20 years and i ahve heard all the swearing about what a place it iswhat a dive and the rest of it.park Parade has had a job surviving because everyone can do one stop shopping in havant Tesco or Bedhampton Wal Mart the units are indeed closing but so are the units in other locations waterlooville havant Portsmouth to name but a few and now the Council has installed 11 yes indeed 11 parking bays for disabled people and no stopping anywhere else even to pick people up so adding to the difficulty for the shops,i know there is parking around the corner but still people wont stop and keep going to a Supermarket where parking is allowed .
There will be little loud mouth Scroats wherever you go and of course i realise that idl;e hands get into trouble and i agree if anything good happens in the Park the it occours in WEST LEIGH or HAVANT or ROWLANDS CASTLE but never Leigh Park so look with your eyes open the People and i only include Adults are friendly and will help their neighbours out something not often seen elsewhere so youngsters get a job or at least get some Education and dont rely on agression filled days remember ONE OF YOU wouldnt say Boo to a goose its only when you are many that you feel tough try and imagine the fear you would feel when confronted with a bunch of people swearing and menancing you dont do it look after your family and respect your Elders YOU WILL BENEFIT from it I have never been threatened or made to feel anxious ahywhere so its not that bad IS IT

I’m 15 years old and have lived in Leigh Park all my life. While I understand that, yes, there are some ‘chavs’ here but it isn’t as bad as the article above claims it is. I’ve had no problem living here and I’ve not heard of any people I know getting into serious trouble. I’m still at school and I’m doing fine and getting decent grades. SOME of the points written about do happen and I agree that Leigh Park maybe isn’t posh or an amazing area but no where near as bad as made out above. You’re find the writter is using stereotype’s on many people here. But cleary you’ve got nothing better to do than walk through Leigh Park and then write an article about it that isn’t true. Leigh Park is a complete s**t hole (for all the “people” that live here and read this, Look around you there is one s**tty little park called “The Wreck” as the name implies it is a wreck.

This site epitomises all that is wrong with society. Why such vitriol towards people who are arguably the ‘underclass’? The youths living in these council estates are disenfranchised. On the one hand ignorant morons call them ‘scum’, whilst on the other they call for these youngsters to become productive citizens. It takes confidence to defect from a dependency on the state and commence a life of independence, confidence that is not induced by labels such as ‘chav’.
I have lived here all my life, and that’s a long time, I have never known anyone personally that has mugged,raped,murdered or any other extreme acts against another person.

I know Leigh Park extremely well, as I lived in that area of Portsmouth for almost 40 years.
The people responding so vehemently (reach for the dictionary again) do not realise how they back up the initial post by their lack of common decency.

I also passed through Leigh park whilst in the services and couldn’t agree more. What a craphole, with everything thats wrong with this country contained within it’s borders. I say borders because it’s like going to a different country. They speak a language that only locals understand. Decent people go out of their way to bypass the dump for fear of getting set on fire, or catching a life threatening disease. I’m not saying all parkies are bad people but unfortunately everyone gets tarred with the same brush. To the chavs, get yourselves in the Army and do something useful for your country.
