This town is disgusting. From its many run down parks to its abandoned factories and houses, the chvs will go anywhere to smoke there pot and take there heroine. Me a mere 13 year old boy can not leave my humble house without being in fear of being mugged or ‘happy slapped’ (When a gang of youths make other youths, usually younger, do embarrasing things on camera. If they are not carried out people are beaten or even stabbed.).
I bought a house in Walthamstow a few years ago and found that starting a family has revealed a whole lot of like minded people living nearby. I know a ,lot of my neighbours, not just on my street either and I can’t get down to the high street without seeing someone I know. We make good use of our little local park which is kept pretty clean these days. What with trains stations coming out of our ears it’s so easy to get to the west end, city or even Hampstead Heath for a daytrip.
We are aware of the petty crime going on around us but so long as you don’t wander back from the tube after dark waving your smartphone about you should be alright. Walk like you know where you’re going and you’ll be fine. Wandering gets you into trouble.
However I do feel sorry for young people in Stow, especially the boys, it seems if you don’t try and act like a ‘bad boy gansta innit’ then you’re going to get grief. I’m going to be thinking very hard before sending my kids to the local secondary as to say the kids wandering out of there each day lack positive roll models is an understatement. They don’t even know how to cross the road, how none of them have been run down recently is a miracle.
In conclusion, I’d rather live in Stow with it’s characters and community that some provincial town with the same problems but without London and the Lea Valley on your doorstep.

Lived there all my life until about 10 years ago. Glad to get out which was a stroke of luck. But yeah – shithole. Markhouse rd dirty f**king dump. St. James st, filthy and full of dossers. Wood st – no-go area at night and don’t wait at the station after 10:30.
The market might have cheap veg but it now has cheap everything…utter crap for the most part. After 11am it transforms into something else. You won’t here an English accent down there. Pensioners do there thing first thing in the morning as the fear of getting mugged is high. After 11 its out with the immigrants. Don’t go near the bottom by the Cock Tavern, thats little Poland. I saw some Asaian bird flogging DVD’s…OK, against the law but still ‘working’ and some fat bloated slag of a pole smacked her round the head and robbed her. The police turned up and I went and had a word with ‘em. All they were interested in was getting her immagration status (incidently she wasn’t an illegal).

Walthamstow was a once a nice place, you never heard it mentioned on the news or anything but now its a scum filled, immigrant infested dump. Stay clear of….

Walthamstow is by and large a shithole. It has 2 things going for it. The Village – a (very) little haven of peace and quiet (except when the yoot enter for some funds) and the market – cheapest and best fruit n’veg in London. Otherwise it is just one great transit camp for whichever bunch of illegals whose turn it is to swamp the area before melting into wider London.
If you are white and unemployed, do not in any circumstances wear a suit and have short hair. In the ‘stow this means you are a ‘fascist’ and will be dealt with accordingly. Do not hang around the Mall or bus station around school closing time except once for educational purposes. You will see the future and boy! is it frightening. A thousand fiddy cents/Dizee rascal wannabees stocking up on their street cred.
The ‘Stow is also one of the proud homes of the British Jihad with many many footsoldiers abroad at any one time (studying doing ‘charity work’ or marrying cousins) or attending local mosques and liaising with chums from round Britain (check the range of accents on Fridays in the strets outside).

“Not that bad” ? You’ve got to be kidding – I worked there recently (already knew what a dump it was) – try getting on a bus at Walthamstow tube if you’re in a wheelchair ……. the Chavscum Mums take priority with their illegitimate offspring. I saw to Young tarts berating a disabled person trying to get on a bus (and he’d been waiting before them).
Whipps Cross hospital is great for getting your car broken into as well.

Walthamstow is not that bad. I lived there for nine years and miss it dearly. every town has its ups and downs and it just so happens that Walthamstow has a tad more than say Cornwall where I live now! its the immigrants that give it a bad reputation.
