well where do i start, i’ve lived here all my life and i’ve gotta honestly say……thetford isn’t too bad as long as you know your roots and you know where 2 go at what time. if you would like to be randomly assulted by teenage chavs in the middle of the night then go to the abbey farm area, the pine close district or the St johns massive. or even if you wanna get given an eye full when just going to town in the late morn/afternoon, you can see many chavs drinking wife-beater and sitting outside woolies or even the 12 year olds who love to play the slot machines in USA chicken and Mr chips.
but if you would like a different scenery, take a jmp on the T1 bus to lincoln way in abbey farm, where you can really see many different fighting activities between portugasse, lithuanas (sp?) and the thetford possey. if you are lucky you would more than likely see blue sirens blaring out at 1 in the morning because someone has got stabbed over ”looking” at the other agender. so check point areas : stay away from chaville ; abbey farm, St johns, pine close and even ladies estate can become a world war 2 ground even though i have a few friends living there.
the recommended areas of thetford are the willows, cloverfields and nunnery drive, virtually everywhere else is roaming with capper slapper 17 year olds looking for fights down castle park every friday or saturday night. one time i could remember some chavs started on me and my friends about 2002, i looked at hime and he goes ”yeh u wanna stop looking at me?”……..and i was just like *sigh* chav!! anyway if you would like to be avoided by being blatently murdered by the McChav’s of thetford, then i would suggest to hire a few bodyguards even though it would stop them and there 300 cousins and brothers.
if you would like to purchase food and drink without the harm of seeing chavs, go to the big tescos as chavs fear to go over onto the cloverfields estate for the reason that people over there are to friendly and afraid that they will give them a big hug so they will run with there 4 year old in the pram. but otherwise if you looking for a good friday night brawl, go to the rose and crown, the greene dragon, the red lion (owned by portugasse now) or USA chicken where the chavs often like to live up to there expectations and buy the chicken fillet burger to satisify there needs after downing 4 cans of stella, i mean wife beater.
but if many of you followers who are reading this, the industrial estate is idea place to go if you are looking to purchase many hard substance drugs such as speed, ketamine, coke and even if you score lucky you can get abit of skag for the likes of the bald headed, non-straight line walkers.
so in conclusion if you would like a quiet drink, go to the albion, the ark, or the dolphin, if otherwise then you know where to go, all of the above lol. best place for non-chav commercialised food would be the taste of china on white heart street, but avoid going a few 100 metres up the road on weekend, as you will see many chavettes having slapping fights and calling each other ”schalgs” outside Star o.k kebab, warning, they must refuel on the way home so they normally go to the kings head or the chase pub(even though they do a good steak and chips)

Ive lived here for 18 days now and i can safely say i don’t have a clue where all these chavs are that you speak of. I have even gone out on secret missions looking for them at these so called rough places you mentioned but to no avail. I actually had a delightful time when i wondered on to the abbey farm estate, i met a nice young group of chaps down the shops and they were very welcoming. They even offered me a pot but i didnt see the use for an 8oz pot, what could you possibly put in that. And i strongly disagree with the comment that there is no good looking people here, in my opinion half the people here could be models. Overall im thouroghly enjoying my time here, theres stunning scenary, the people are a hoot, the only people i could imagine not liking this place are ignorant, jealous haters.

Acturly I live in Sloane square thats in Kessington London,which as your are a poor hillbilly type person who proberly spends all day plucking a home made bango whilst rocking backwards and fowards on the porch of your hut with a the look of a simpleton who has sex with farm animals high on cider is what you would call the big city.Yes City boys and gales is what we are,and as you will never be able to afford a donkey or a mule of your own,youll never ever leave your yokals village,so let me tell you what “the big city” is like(tell me if Im going to fast for you)We have pavements here that we walk on,made from Either York stone or in the cheaper ereas tarmac,not mud like Thetford.We also dont throw sewerage out of our windows onto the street(except in Peckham and Hackney)like you do,we have people come and collect it or its flushed away into the sewers(like a big underground river)We also have a bath in every house(thing you put coal in and slaughtered animals)and showers and we use soap,theres none of that bathing in the village pond here.We also have motor cars,sort of like your carts but with 4 wheels one on each corner.I do hope Ive been of some help,sorry if it all sounds a bit far fetched and over your head,I think thats enough for today,go back to plucking.

i’ve lived on st johns way most of my life , i still live there & it is very rare for me to see any trouble whatsoever where i live . you do get a few hoodies roaming about but i see them in every town & village that i work in . i’ve worked in major towns & cities many times and also lived & worked abroad and compared to some places i’ve seen thetford is actually a very attractive town for the main part . there are elements of society that i’d willingly stick in a car crusher and press the button but to stigmatise thetford as such a terrible place to live is plain wrong , anyone who hasn’t had their head up there own arsehole and actually been around a bit would realise this. like someone else mentioned try having a trip to Burnley ,Bradford, Hackney or Hull to see what a s**te place to live really is.

You’re talking like Thetford is a haven for gangs. I’ve never heard so much s**t in my whole life. Its like a ghost town around here compared to many places I have also lived. Its only those who never leave town who think like you. Once you have lived in a proper town or city you would realise that Thetford is pretty damn peaceful in comparison. Yeah you get a few hooligans, but the same can be said about Brandon, Attleborough, Wymondham, Bury St Edmunds, and the list goes on. Try living in the North West in places such as Burnley or Blackburn and you’ll be in for a shock. They are proper rough places to live.
In reality “chav” is just a term used by middle class wannabe toffs which in means “poor person”. As for Abbey Farm, it is true a few streets are a haven for trouble makers, but that is merely because Peddars Way Housing cram the hooligans together. Most of which are actually from out of town.
As for the police to civilians ratio, there is a good reason for that, which is Thetford Police Force is used as training for the London Met…

I’ve lived in thetford most of my life, over cloverfields. Although I have to agree with the chav comments about people from the “farm” and “st johns massive” and “pine close firm” there are actually some great people in the town who work hard and strive to make the town a better place.
Unfortunately, the majority is a load of chavs getting high and threatening to “murk” you because they think they’re “ard init” so all of those youngsters who do actually work and live on the nicer estates just get thrown in the same pool as the chavs!
Not everyone in thetford are on the dole and got 6 kids by the age of 18, there are worse places than thetford! Its just these scummy chavs giving it a repuatation to compensate for their little maggot penises and ugly faces!

are you actually f**king kidding me? I worked in thetford for the past 7 years and can safely say I would NEVER EVEN CONSIDER living there. Everyone I see walking around in thetford is either ugly as sin, or they are just passing through/visiting (god knows why you want to visit anywhere in thetford is beyond me…). Its a FACT that thetford has nearly equal quantities of portugese etc to the number of brits who live there. Its also a FACT that thetford has the highest teenage pregnancy rate in East Anglia (even higher than places like Norwich and Kings Lynn), another FACT is that it has the highest ratio of police to civillians (it must be for a reason). Abbey Farm Estate is a widely known place for drugs and violence (i cant think of any other places which stand out tbh).
It is also a FACT that over half of the crime which actually gets detected in thetford involves drugs.
Its also a FACT that its easier for a 14 year old to go get coked up than for them to get drunk.
At the end of the day thetford is a s**t hole. It was designed as an overflow for London, and thats basically what it is … 1 big spillage of muck slap bang in the norfolk country side….

The only part of thetford i venture to is the Tesco’s, simply not a pleasent place to be at night and the amounts of suspicious looking people who look at you makes you feel really anxious!

Yes there is a lot of underage drinking and sex but thats because people are bored and they only have sex because they are drunk. There has never been as many chavvy young mums as you say there are in fact I think out of both high schools there are only 2 or 3 girls that have got pregnant probably less than that! And as for chavs in Thetford there are only a handful of people that are, just because people don’t speak posh and don’t wear expensive clothes doesnt mean EVERYONE goes around in track suits and swearing.
