It makes me sad to see a lack of respect towards other people. I believe that no matter where you come from there will always be different types of people whether they be working class or not. My name is Paul C, and I was actually born in Bradley and grew up there until I joined the RAF at 19 years of age. I am so sorry to hear that Bradley has deteriorated into such a demeaning state. When I grew up there is the sixties and seventies it was a great place to live. It was a working class council estate, but the people were hardworking, decent human beings, who had a community spirit. It’s so sad to read such reports of social degradation and human desperation! Interestingly, Bradley is over a thousand years old, maybe like all the cycles of history it will come good again. I’m sure there are still decent old Bradley people there. Of course if I had my way, I’d form some new type of national service and see how many of them really need heroin and psychiatric label. In the good old days, real ‘Yorkshiremen’ would have kicked the living shit out of the lot of them, and the only mainlining they’d be doing is being tied to the local railway line!
I lived at Bradley for many years and it is indeed a shithole and full of chavs. I lived on the so called ‘posh’ part of Bradley, which was seen as fair game for any little scroat with a habit. I once caught a 15 year old chav burglar in my house and held him prisoner until the police came for him. Fair enough, I know everyone who lives there, I have done for since I was small, so in a respect this may be why I feel safe.
