Welcome to Basingstoke based in North Hampshire, England.
Basingstoke is a nice place where there’s lots of new developments been built including the Festival Place shopping centre that opened in October 2002. There is also loads of Retail Parks, and a Leisure Park that includes a cinema, bowlplex, gala bingo, aquadrome, kfc, mcdonalds, and ice rink. Commerically, there is also alot of big business names established in Basingstoke including GAME, Motorola, Sony, and IBM.
However Basingstoke is full of chavs everywhere you go. Most chavs hang about the leisure parks and in town shopping areas.
The chavs of Basingstoke come in from designated areas of Basingstoke
where the council houses (the parents on the dole) to. These areas
include:
- South Ham
- Popley
- Brighton Hill
- Buckskin
- Winklebury
- Kempshott
Chavs tend to keep out of the nicer areas of Basingstoke where the
richer majority live. They are Chineham, Hatch Warren and Old Basing.
For example I will name an area of Basingstoke which has chavs all over
after 6pm. This place is Burnaby Close, South Ham. There is a corner
shop and chinese takeaway there. All houses sarrounding this area are
all empty and borded up due to vandalism. Expect to see at least 20
chavs all over this area filled with litter, shouting, drugs, underage
smoking/drinking.
Every night when the shop closes it gives away all its free out of date
sausage rolls/pasties/etc and kids riot the shop to get their hands on
free food that their parents cant afford.
The shop even has bouncers on the doors (now what I hear!!!)
I myself live in a new house in Chineham and compared to that is
completely different. I expect when i go to Chineham Shopping Centre to
see no chavs at all and I actually hardly ever do as there may be a
couple on occassion but they dont actually do anything.
Anywhere that you drive around in basingstoke has smashed up bus
shelters and all the buses at the back seats are filled with graffiti
and lighter burnt seats.

And just because areas have social housing you think Noone works?? You make me so angry how dare you judge people like that, look in the mirror your s**t stinks like the rest of ours.
All of these comments are ridiculous!! You sound like school children my estate is better then yours. At the end of the day they are ALL estates and all have chavs in, all have social housing, all have people on benefits and all have hard workers. I have lived in he town centre, Brighton hill, nt south ham, Chineham and Popley and not one is better or worse then the other. people see a bunch of teenagers outside a shop and all of a sudden its chav central and a s**thole??? hatch warren has the highest rate of teen pregnacys those ‘posh’, ‘rich’ people must be going wrong somewhere. Get your heads out of your backsides and get over yourselves Basingstoke is a lovely place to live, there are so lovely house social and private and if its so s**t MOVE!!! Piss off to daganham, Southampton, reading and then see howmuch of a s**thole you think popley, buckskin and oakridge are. regards a working home owner in Popley :-O
I’m from, around, Basingstoke and its really not a bad place. for the last few years i have been living in various towns and cities across England. however, the difference i notice is that in other towns people who would be described as chavs aren’t proud of it or even like to be called that. the people who arent also dont want to be seen as, or called, chavs. but, in basingstoke there seems to be a culture of people who aspire to be a chav and all ghetto and gangsta. when i see this i think, you’re from f’ing Hampshire! there is nothing ghetto here, apart from you fake accent that you got from the TV. you are from one of the poshest counties in the country where jane austin, chales dickens and alan titchmarsh come from/live(ed). not snoop dog, the crips or the Kray twins. yet you’re giving it all yer mans is bear G fam., mans dont even know about this get me, blud. its hilarious. i havent seen this anywhere else. or, at least, to this scale.
I live in winklebury, and it seems to house all the local nutters (check out the number 6 bus to find them!) but its fine! Yes there are a few chavs about, as there are everywhere, but seriously, as chav towns go Basingstoke is right down the list. The roughest areas (popley, and buckskin and oakridge?) are nothing at all like the rough areas where i have lived before. and the chav population is small compared to other towns/cities. Basingstoke is a nice place to live and dont let any idiot tell you otherwise! Or if they do send them to Sunderland or Bridgend
Chineham people think they are posh but in reality most are from the Popley overspill.
Bramley now has a lot of social housing and is quite rough.
Buckskin isn’t that bad
South Ham has rough bits
Popley has regenerated
Brookvale/top of town – Fairfields/Cranbourne/Kings Furlong are all nice areas.

Oh I almost forgot. The houses aren’t boarded up around there and there aren’t any bouncers on the door at the shop nor do they give away all of their out of date foods.

Yep its ok here,I like the mushrooms best,nothing wrong with anywhere if you eat enough mushrooms for breakfast,never done me no harm.Some people cant handle em,say theyll turn you crazy,BULLs**t theyve never done me no harm.Thoses lamposts in the town make me want to cry,have you seen em? If you think South View is one of the least chavy areas you need a Catscan
Kempshot isn’t chavy at all… Buckskin is major Chav it’s like the only part of the country where you can feel like your in a inner city despite being on the edge of a town. Anyway Basingstoke doesn’t really have loads of Chavs… but not everyone from the dumpy areas are chavs…. and it’s unlikely they’re on the dole you can’t be on the dole and live in Basingstoke it’s not possible (Apart from South View and Popley anyway.
Chineham and Hatch Warren are both pretty chav-tastic if you ask me – people there might think they’re better than Popley but there is not a lot in it. Southview and Brookvale are the two least chavy areas.
How have you not put Oakride and Blackdam!? Kempshot and Buckskin are’nt bad areas at all
As another reader has said, Kempshott does not compare to the rest of the listed “CHAV” areas, you really ought to visit there and experience it around the whole area, I have never experienced anything bad around there, in the whole of Kempshott there are about a few terraced houses, and the majority are detached. There is a new development of a small block of flats, however I have heard nothing bad of these, please reconsider your list.
Hatch Warren is an Estate….It’s pub The Portsmouth Arms serves Brighton Hill and even its Landlady wears a hoody and smokes pot. I have pictures of staff members there with joints. Hell she had a clock on the wall of her flat with a picture of a Marijuana leaf.

Chineham, Hatch Warren etc = Basingstoke, however you dress it up…init!
Bramley = nouveau basingstoke……..when you can buy a new 6 bed house for 300k you know there must be something wrong!
bramley and sherfield arent realy chavvy compared to basingstoke and popley, bramley has a small group that used to hang around the local one stop – but then one stop knocked down the wall outside to stop the chavs sitting and lingering outside their shop so you dont see many about now
oh and sherfield, no that is not chavy, there are a few (like under 5 of them) and they dont do anything, they stay indoors playing xbox and occasionaly getting pissed

Very funny, the worst thing about Basingstoke is that it is only 12 minutes tipper ride from Pikey Tadley. And they still drive on red diesel but the Basingstoke filth are cowards anyway.

before you start judging them! I doubt you know this but there are
council estates in both chineham and old basing, but of course rich people live there so it must be different
