Barrow In Furness aka “The Shithole”,what a dump and possibly the most chav populated town I have ever seen.Take a walk through the main street “Dalton Road” and see how many “LONSDALE” clad teenage chavs you can see in the 2 minutes it takes to walk through the shopping area.The sale of Staffordshire bull terriers has rocketed as its essential to have LONSDALE Traccy,Fake massive gold chain and a staffy on a lead by your side.
Barrow has one of the highest murder rates in the country and its easy to see why.Take a stroll through one of the doss area estates and watch the heads turn and curtains twitch.
The average day consists of getting up at 11 am,have a litre of White Lightening then take the dog up town to see if the mecca sports shop “SPORTSWORLD” has any new Lonsdale gear for under a fiver.After sitting in MC Donalds for 3 hours its time to go home cos the teenage girlfriend will be due home from school and then shes got to go for her pregnancy scan to see if its twins or not.
At night time boy racers zoom up and down the street with the fake Burberry caps and Camel fags hanging out their gobs,the town is filthy and its a regular occurance to see several dogs shitting on the pavement where nobody bothers to bat an eye lid.The local paper even have a coloumn called “chav watch” which describes when and where chavs were spotted.
If you want to see what happens when your cousin shags your sister then head to Barrow,a real shithole full of JJB,ARGOS,SPORTSWORLD AND MACCIES shops that are full of spotty,piss stained chavs with their dogs.
If there was ever a war then head to Barrow cos nobody and I mean noboby will bother bombing this shithole.
I moved away from barrow for a year and i hated it! I went to live in Preston and it was rough, really rough! I’ve been brought up on Council Estates here all my life and i have never had to worry that i would be mugged or flashed at when waiting for a bus. Like i did when i lived there. I am a professional lady with a BSc and i take great offence that people have commented about interbreeding. Theres a poulation of over 40,000 people here and most of them came from scotland and other places because they had no work! This place that you hate saved your arse in every war thats been for the last 200 years. They have made ships and submarines that have fought for Queen and country and i am proud to be part of that history as my fathers and grandfathers before me have worked to provide this country with them. How many times do the royal family visit your town because ours gets regular royal visitors. Im sick of eople dissing Barrow. Its my home town and i love it. Oh an by the way i dont drink or take drugs. Many respects.
Barrow isn’t a shit hole, completely. Your just taking it by one point a view, Ormsgill and Barrow Island are the worst part of Barrow. You think every teenager are chavs in Barrow, well your wrong. And comments about ”13 year olds sleeping with 50 year olds” There aren’t that many people who are stupid to do that. Try look at Manchester, or Liverpool or Birmingham or any other place in the country. Yeah, Barrow is shit for jobs, and there isn’t much to do. Also I think you’ve got the murdering wrong also the druggies and alcoholics. You should look around the whole town, instead of just looking out for bad areas of it or for teenagers that look like chavs.
To say you’ve walked up and down Dalton Road a couple of times isn’t really grounds to judge an entire town. Yes, there are shit holes in Barrow. Ormsgil, Long Way ect. But away from all the dossers, Barrow can be an alright place to live. Granted, there isn’t much to do here. But if you can enjoy the little things like walking through Barrow Park one afternoon, or taking the dog for a run, it’s not a bad place at all to live. I’m 20, and I’ve lived here all my life. I’ve never been started on or even had anything shouted at me in the street. I do my best not to associate myself with the dregs of the town. But at the same time, they don’t bother me.
To say the town has the highest murder rate in the country is absolutely ridiculous. What statistics have you been reading? Ever heard of Manchester? London?
Again, in 20 years, I’ve never once heard about anyone being killed. Same goes for the “13 year olds sleeping with 50 year old men” comment. If I ever heard of a 50 year old sleeping with a 13 year old, I’d be straight down the police station reporting them. Same goes for the vast majority of people living in the town.
“In Barrow, there are only ‘druggies’ and alcoholics”. That right there is utter bollocks. I’ve got a lot of good friends in this town. Not one of them drinks away from from Saturday night, and none of us would ever touch any kind of Class A drug.
I guess ignorance is bliss to you lot. I’m not trying to deny that there are some absolute f**k knuckles in Barrow. But to judge the entire place by what you see in the town center is extremely closed minded, and makes you no better than the groups of people you’ve been slagging off on this website.
Barrow is not all that bad, born and bred here and I’m very happy! There is crappy parts, the same as there is everywhere else in England; there is always little chavs in each town that spoilt it for the rest but Barrow isn’t THAT bad! Although I will admit the Barrow accent is common sounding, mine is very strong and It’s difficult to understand for people not from around this area if I visit anywhere else haha!

Barrow is a town which has some very nice people and obviously like any where else in the world those who are not so nice .
Theres some beautiful places such as the park and Furness abbey and also places which are not so nice for example Cornwalllis st .
I am also aware that this web site should be taken with a pinch of salt , also ive visited some of the places where other people who have made comments abot Barrow are from and there are places there i could mention that arent so nice but i have more interesting things to do with my time . Always belived the best thing to do is look for the best in an area , Also if theres something your not happy about dont be negative moaning and whingeing get involved and do something to improve it instead.

Unfortunately I had to live in barrow for work. The worst expierence of my entire life. I can assure you that if Scotland went to conquer this place, our English government would be happy!. In Barrow there are only druggies and alcoholics. Full point. Normal people living there must turn into this sooner or later. Kids at 13 and 14 have sex with 40 and 50 year old men. This is normal to them. Everyone gets drunk EVERY NIGHT and TEACH their kids how to drink and get drunk. if you do not follow these steps, your are not a Barrovian. You are not cool.
While living (well, being) there I use to wonder: Do they watch TV? Do they see what is happening in the rest of the world? Do not they see that they are not doinf the things that are done in the rest of this Planet?
English people are well mannered , polite and just. barrovians represent hooligans, destroyed people by drugs and alcohol. They do not behave like human being. Not even dogs and pigs do such things to their own kids. My advise: NEVER EVER go to Barrow, unless you want to see what a human being should not see.

Once went to Barrow for a job interview working at the sub base. The company were paying for me to stay in a “hotel” overnight so I had a look round the night before the interview.
If they had offered me ten thousand a week I would have turned the job down. Just the trip there from Stockport was enough to put you off the place. I’m no fan of the Lake District so that part of the world didn’t really hold any appeal. I didn’t think it could be as bad as I saw though and I can relate to the comment about interbreeding. God knows what would happen to employment in the town if the submarine facility shut.
