I live near telford and me and my dad sometimes go out for a drink in a pub up there where some of my dads friend hang out. There is always trouble in the area as there are two villages nextdoor to each other called sutton hill and woodside. These to villages hate each other and the headbangers from either villages meet up every night in gangs of 30 – 50 for a fight. We must have been up the pub up there at least 5 times and there has always been trouble. The first time we were at my aunties party when someone was found dead in the toilets suferring from a sever beating in the head. The second time i was there my dads friend got a chunk of his face bitten off by a headbanger that didnt even know him. The 3rd time a couple of lads from woodside walked in and they both got slashed by stanley knifes and riot police had to come in to save them. The 4th time someone got murdered again after gettin beaten up by a chav with a baseball bat after a local rape. And the last time I went there, there was a local football match on between telford united and shrewsbury fc, the headbangers from the hard parts of telford (woodside, sutton hill, donnington, and general telford) all went down to a field to fight the shrewbury football hooligans. The result was with hundreds of people getting arrested. I have been walking around telford on my own alot recently and have been stopped by local chavs asking me for a spare “ciggy” i just say no and walk off before trouble occurs. Looking around the midlands and msot of england telford is one of the roughest, nastiest, chavviest towns I have ever seen

TELFORD IS A GOOD PLACE TO LIVE,, THE MAIN DODGEY THING IS THE POL*C* ANY WAY TIME FOR A BACON BUTTY..
I grew up in Wellington, a market town in Telford. Telford is really a tale of two cities (or new towns in this case). On the one hand, you have some of the most amazing sites I have ever been. Wellington sits nestled at the base of the wrekin…a place of genuine historic interest as the primary seat of the corvonii tribe and once, quite possibly, the grounds where they fell to the brutal roman empire. You have the ironbridge…the birthplace of industry, where you can find little gems such as Blists Hill…a working victorian village, boasting a real ale public house, a traditional chip shop and a metal works and so much more. From an outsiders perspective, Telford should really appeal to anyone with an interest in history and beauty. But then there is the other side to Telford…the fact that it is a new town, as has been mentioned above, makes it all the more easier to drown in social depravity. Having lived here for several years, I know what the younger generation are like (I’m only 25 but there really is a massive gap between age here). I have been jumped, spat at, had stones thrown at me, driven at by some idiot in his “souped up” vauxhall nova…and I have never done anything to warrant such behaviour. The dregs of humanity that you see standing outside the spar shops in various districts (Arleston being the worst offender in my mind), for instance, really are a stain on what was once, and could be again, quite a charming, beautiful area. to conclude, it is pretty safe to say that Telford is indeed a chav town…but once you can ignore the illiterate, alcoholic youth around here, you will see it is actually quite pleasant.
Gentlemen,
The first story is fabricated to a degree but yet holds some truth. I too grew up in Telford and I have witnessed some awful atrocities, I have been in flats in Oakengates that have been done over by rival dealers, I have witnessed my best friend being slashed in the face, another friend of mine took a severe beating underneath Oakengates bridge which rendered him in intensive care. I am 24 and I still have problems when i’m back in Telford, but mostly now in the dwindling nightlife that seems to be slowly loosing its grip. When we were younger we were chased across the whole of town, hunted down like dogs. Stamped on, hit with keeper rings and I’ve fought back too in places like Wellington. However I still have a fondness of the place, it’s full of good people, it’s just a shame that others ruin it. BUT. I agree with the chap who said it was a new town; this is definitively a contributing reason for social depravity in Telford. The place is as lazy as the day is long, this is not to say everybody there is bone-idle. Now gangs don’t fight every night, but they certainly do fight I used to know STO and there was a gang called the Zulu’s who situated at the ice rink and im also pretty sure there are gangs in Sutton Hill, Woodside, Brookside, Madely, Stirchly, Arleston, St George’s all these places, I’m not condemning the people that make up these gangs, they are in a gang for a reason and then again I’m not saying it is just for gangs to exist. But there are problems in Telford, there’s problems with the police force too, I’ve seen young a detective jump over the bodies to get what they wanted, not care for the innocent just to make there way to the top and its disgusting behavior. I mean NO insult to anyone (maybe the police) when writing this message, I’ve thought about it a lot over the years. JIMI
Poor old Telford – there might be a load of teenagers who dress like rapstars and have big talk, but there’s no way I believe this story happened. Teenagers in every british town are following along a Vicky Pollard root, but fortunately most of them grow out of it.
Telford’s cursed cos it’s a new town, the houses and estates aren’t typically ‘pretty’ and the general house income isn’t really high…but it’s not such a filthy town and anyway Ironbridge and Bridgnorth, Shropshire in general is a beautiful county.
I’ve had chavs have a go at me and my family and friends in the past, but it’s mostly bullshit, just trying to look hard infront of their friends.
People who whinge about the state of things in Telford should try living in other cities in the world where you can see little children on drugs, girls as young as 11 being forced into prostitution and massive amounts of people are homeless and unemployed..THEN bitch and moan because some 15 year olds like to wear fake brand names and shout at people walking into Asda…it’s not such a desperate place…
what aload of bullshit!! woodside and suttonhill are not villages there estates. im i really suppose to believe that gangs of people turn up everynite 2 fight. Ive lived in telford all my life and never once have i heard anyone talked about that happening. Every1 knows every1 round here so i would of heard some1 meation something. and some1 really found dead?? Why would u keep goin 2 the same pub if things like that happened. And seeing as u wont tell people which pub, means u are so a bullshiter. Your dads friend got his face bite off!! Think you need to stop watching horror movies. Congratulations on winning biggest bullshiter of the year!!!
which pub ???? Sounds like Hills Lane shithole, sorry, social…….
Those two “Villages”, are the dregs of the earth…….
You’ve got all these twats that the police are to scared to touch, just in case they might infringe on some rights they dont deserve…
So what was this pub called?
I live on sutton hill and grew up on Woodside and not once in my adult life have i seen anything of which you describe.
Yes it can be bad at times but i very much doubt your brilliant story.
