Old Malden and Worcester Park are both perfectly pleasant places to live, yet nearby Malden Manor is a cold sore on the genitals of civilisation.
Despite providing a useful railway staion, “the Manor” is best known for the hideous flats and equally hideous inmates (sorry, residents) of the housing project on Sheephouse Way.
Surly and monosyllabic, the chav youths selfishly pick the Co-op at Old Malden (nearer to my house than their barracks-like shitholes, the little wankers!) to hang out on a Friday. It’s all there: hoodies, shell-pants, ten gallons of cheap aftershave (boys), piercing voices and more effort spent on picking g-strings than denims (girls).
The bastard Tory newsletter that comes through my door even has sympathy for the scum! That’s when you know that old principles have gone down the pan: I have no time for the Tories but at least when they stuck to their guns they wouldn’t have even pretended to like these scummy wastes of air and water that surely must be the first batch in an experiment for human culling. But no – the local Toryboys actually have sympathy and want to help, so they say. I can only hope that it’s just empty vote-winning promises.
As a former resident of Wimbledon, I never thought I’d look fondly at Phipps Bridge (the nearby equivalent). But at least that had a bit of history…..
Worcester Park is not pleasant at all, it is the little brother of Sutton. The only thing about Worcester Park is that it is small and does not get the coverage of a larger place such as Sutton
I used to live near there, but fortunately not in the Manor estate. A posh/snotty Asian family who lived near me used to invite chav friend over to their house(*). Well actually outside my house .. playing football and just ruining the tranqulity of the area. My neighbours were too scared to do anything so i took it on myself to beat them at their own game .. got the ball off them and booted it all the way out onto the main road to provoke a reaction. Minutes later, Waynetta (mum of ASBO-child) is outside my door. I did bother to translate all the chav-speak but something about her not having the time to take Wayne to the park (which is actually almost next to their estate). I suggested that i would supervise them in the local park on Saturday so they didn’t have to blight the residents, and she could put her feet up and watch repeats of Trisha or Jeremy Kyle. She left muttering to herself. 1-0 to middle class respectability. I’ll never ever live anywhere near an estate again.
* with hindsight, i suspect they did this to annoy me as for some reason they didn’t like me – not sure why but i stuck out a bit – single guy, city worker etc.

The Worcester Park/Malden Manor area has been a LibDem stronghold for years!
Dont see how you can say Worcester Park is a pleasant area to live. i moved 20 years ago and it was pleasent. It is now a hell hole that resembles a town such as Grimsby.
