Poole…’its a beautiful place’ my arse!!!!!!!!! Who ever used that quote for Poole must have a white stick. The place is a state and is probably one of the chaviest towns i have ever had to live in. I mean the place is heaving with them..like flies around a kebeb stick. Pulling up on the local bus into Poole bus station and you are welcomed by the ‘kfc’ chavs who seem to never leave that little corner of the bus station. Sometimes you can have up to 30 of them there at one time, along the bus station a bit you get a lot more, buzzin’ round the newsagents and sitting on the bench. ‘!!*Z wa***rs bastards !!??ZZX’ is all you can hear. In the town centre dolphile shopping centre all you can see is groups of youths with burberry etc. Its hard to avoid them. The high street is no different either with idiots right up to the quay. All outskirts of poole are full of groups and gangs so is not a very nice place to come on holiday unless you live down sandbanks or over to the purbecks. This place is a real shithole. I got of the train from lodnon on saturday to poole. The first people i laid my eyes on were a bunch of chavs!! and yet there were more loitering around the benches up wimborne road outside the londis. outrageous. London is far less chavvy than poole and if u want a good holiday then dont come here or bournemouth in that case. shithole!
Yep, I agree. The surrounding areas are nice but Poole itslef is a dump. Its full of old people and chavs, the shopping centre is awful to say the least. What is it about seaside towns ? I’m glad we only stayed there for a year.
I completely disagree, I will admit that Turlin moor is a rough place but that isn’t going to change. Other than that I have lived here since I was born and haven’t come across one ‘gang’ or even been in a fight, I used to hang around the bus station but I’m definitely not a chav and many people I know who did hang around it weren’t. Teenagers hang around the bus station because theres nothing else to do unless you have money and for that you need a job, and they’re pretty hard to come by. We don’t have community centres or areas we can spend time together that are free. Poole may be developing and even as a teen I think many of the new developements aren’t the most appealing things to look at, however a few new buildings don’t make poole the place you describe it to be. Crime does happen in Poole, but it’s never gangs and crime happens everywhere it’s a sad truth but it does and it’s something people just have to cope with, there are some idiots in Poole but that doesn’t mean the whole town is condemned. Our highstreet is going down hill slightly but that is due to the fact businesses can’t survive in todays climate, it’s hard and our number of shops is suffering for it. There aren’t rows of faceless flats in Poole because there is architecture everywhere, Boones the ironmongers still radiates the grand victorian past our town use to have and if you look up adverts are still painted on the sides of buildings. Original clocks still hang from buildings, original buildings, Scaplen court definitely shows the historical story of poole.
If someone at my age of 17 can appreciate this in Poole I’m sure the people on this website can. The people and buildings that tainted your opinion are a small minority, next time look at the bigger picture and try and appreciate what is around you, if you can’t do that what hope is there for any town in england? they all have there bad sides.
Hooray some sense from our Councillors in throwing out the West Quay Monster. Hopefully the town will be a little less chavy as a result. I wonder if the head of planning knows what regeneration is actually about expensive flats, 1970s style building, no affordable housing, no employment, no play areas, no greenspace!? this would have really put the nail in the town. Thankyou to members who obviously respect peoples views.
The monster on the quay is back lets see if Poole has the bottle to chuck this cold development out and send it back where it belongs to the 70s! Maybe it could join the highways engineers who appear to be hell bent on making fast roads for posh people to get through the town as fast as possible. I wonder if anyone from the council is young enough to read any of these comments?
I left Poole in 2001, it was bad THEN! Turlin moor, was dreadful then, better now I’m told. Recently I visited the Dolphin Centre, is that place still a mess or what. The CSA mum’s still abound, and the (w)hole place is to me a DUMP. Since leaving Poole, lived in some not so good areas in Florida, Pheonix (AZ), and London, and can HONESTLY say I feel safer! God, even living in downtown Jacksonville Florida (A bit rough, lol), where I listened to the gunshots at night and often awoke to hearing sirens, and the chalk marks surrounding the latest victim on the sidewalk, I STILL FELT SAFER THAN IN POOLE! As for Boscombe, spent nearly 20 years in that area, and it’s similar to me, best stay away!!
It was amazing for pub crawls and the locals were ok but the amount of dole scum and single mums is a complete piss take. My nan lived in Alderney and it was a craphole.
Is the Venue still there? what a dump lol
althouugh i dislike the word chav, poole is a massive shithole and the worst place iver evr lived.
If you look outisde the high street you get high crime estates like alderney, bourne estate, turlin moor, samson park estate, canford heath, waterloo estate, creekmoor, baiter, trinidad, foxholes estate.
etc
if you want an intresting fact, in the last ten years the amount of rapes in poole has tripled.
poole is also in the top 14% areas with the highest crime in the u.k
and the top 10% most deprived.
And to make it worse areas like sandbanks etc make the area expensive and overlooked
Although I agree, Baiter Park I don’t feel is too bad. I used to be the Chairman of Baiter Park Resident’s Association, although a decade ago. But the residents inform me that not much has changed even with more homes being built on what was then disused land next to the railway line. People do however, use the underpass into Poole Park as an escape route following crime on the estate.
There are some fair comments here about poole, but in my opinion the town has has got a whole lot worse in the last five years with the enormous amount of polish and eastern europeans moving in, everywhere you go in poole now you here foreigners.
The Council is looking to approve another ugly monster on the quay to help the quay look more like the crappy bus station and shopping centre!! Plus it is to provide houses for holiday makers and investors and not for people who live in the town and are desperate for housing.
dolphile shopping?? the only chav is the c**t that wrote this complete load of shit!!!
yeah, here here. I live in Poole, and only the dolphin centre is a shithole, every-where else is fine, for gods sake Sandbanks is the 4th most expensive place to live in the world!!!!!!
Actually I am young and live in Poole so don’t pretend that this is a load of old people who don’t like the place. There are quite a few yound people who want a better place to hang out., work and enjoy Maybe if you went beyond the town boundry you would see there are better towns out there. All we want is some decent planning in the town! We are being let down.
You know what we arent that bad maybe if you all socialised with us and actually spoke to us we are really nice people, if the bus drivers and the shopping centre security like us im sure that the people that visit would like us, yeah we spit we swear we shout but do we complain about the snobs that walk about that have their heads so far up their own ass’s im suprised they aint walking into things 24/7…This is poole and your not going to change it. And do something decent with your time than write a load of shit about people you really dont know
I did visit Poole this year and what a mess and what a shame. I remember about 10 years back it was a nice historic shopping town with an attractive quayside. No more its now full of faceless blocks of flats that could be anywhere and a high street that is in gradual decline. Chav town alright!
Maybe the Council should go and look at Towns in Devon and Cornwall to learn a few lessons in attracting visitors and businesses.
I concur Poole is a real eyesore. Move beyound the shopping centre and you enter one of the tackiest high streets in Britain. Chav market and chav shops. Not sure who runs the high street but they must have a tastless catalogue to work from. Last years christmas market and tree were an all time low…untill this year that is!
