There are some fantastic people here in Millom but the toytown police who all go to sleep at 8pm in the station and ignore all the late night anti-social behaviour are a big part of the problem. I have lived here all my life and am sick of having my kids woken up by drunks of all ages screeching and shouting at all hours of the day and night. After hours it is not a very nice place to be, but nobody rings the police because a) they don’t do anything and b) you might just get your windows put through. My friend says there is more anti-social behaviour and low-level crimes like vandalism here than in Manchester. we should all stand against the minority!

There’s no honour in preserving a 1970s style of living with a huge drink culture and environment where it appears to be OK for both men and women to sexually harrass teenagers. yes it can be an irritating place to live simply beacause of the poor road structure and the governments inability or willingness to make adjustments to it, also more money is spent up north and millom has become the forotten town which is very unfortunate for the locals of the town because we are hardworking people who go out of our way to work on a daily basis, some of us have children who have moved away to find work and they are very successful young people WHO CAN SPELL by the way, drug taking is a worldwide problem among people of all ages cultures and creeds not confined to our small town and nepotism is alive and kicking everywhere unfortunately.

Not true about the nepotism. Equal opportunities, which is a legal framework has a huge impact upon employment procedures and opportunities everywhere – except in Millom. People here seek loopholes by hiding job adverts in back corridoors of infant schools so that competition can be minimised and by not even advertising many posts. If you’re an off-comer life’s not easy here! Remember we just want to build lives we can live too!
