Before I slag Macc (as it’s known to the locals)let me add the plus points. beautiful countryside, good enough shops, mostly (daytime)friendly people.
But then nightime appears and Macclesfield turns into a town from the twilight zone. As a lass born and bred in Stockport (yeah, yeah I know, blame my parents)this place is odd. I have worked with the yoofs of Macclesfield and am therefore allowed to comment. Majority of the kids are good, bit f**ked up, but all in all there is hope.
I think the closure of Parkside loony bin (no offence to loonies) contributed big time. I remember driving all the way to Macclesfield from Stockport just to ogle said lunatic asylum. Those were the days.
They are wannabe chavs, but doing a crap job of it. They have the obligatory Manc accent, rough council estates (yeah, whatever) and poverty. Unless you happen to have a good social worker.
Have a glance at how estate agents sell Macclesfield and how they lie. Part of the job I guess.

They have been released back into the community, oh bugger! And drugs were added. And then they bred! Oh shit.
Maybe it’s time I moved further afield.
But the bit I love best about Macclesfield is that we are so close to all the A-list footballers, Wayne Rooney etc. And they haven’t a clue about what’s just up the road from their safe little havens.
Can Macclesfield please be added to Chav Towns, we do have a JJB and an Argos. Ok it’s not as hardcore as Hanley but Saturday nights in Macc are great fun, and we also have a bus station. Not that I as a mature woman have tried my luck. Taxis work much better for me x
I have lived in Macc sine I was 14, Moved here from a rough estate in Manchester (do not assume I am a chav cos am far from it!)
Macc has its chav, trust me I know I have felt there fists & fought them back in many occasions, but isn’t that true with mpst areas? Bullys exist all over the world, politics and everywhere!!! However as stated this is Macc & a nice area surrounded by nice areas in Cheshire. There are a fair few have that make out they are hard done by. Hard times are all relevant to the person, my problems are different to the person next to me however my problems are just as important to me as theirs are to them! Also as mentioned above by someone else the Chavs from my teenage life have grown up or moved on (be that prison or whatever) my point is that Macc is nice and small enough to know the Chavs.
I was born and raised in macclesfield and think some of the negative comments are a bit far fetched. There are plenty of good aspects to the town and there is a great diversity of communities. I think people just like to draw attention to behaviour that doesn’t fit in with their blinkered opinion of society. People should pay more attention to their own contribution to the area and communicating with other residents, rather than lampooning locals.
seeing comments frm the chavs who live here on this forum just makes bad points even more proven XD anybody who is ugly n wants 2 b shagged 10 times a week,come to macc theres plenty of 10-50 year olds who wud b happy 2 do so in the first minute of knowing you

Macclesfield is was awful place to live for me,growing up there i always used to be able to go to the park or go out with my family or friends and have a good time,thats changed now. Absolutely full of chavs honking horns at girls,full of AWFUL drivers,i think any person who smokes thinks its essential to start smoking weed.And the teenage pregnancies n benifit abuse my god!! Macclesfield has rubbish shops,too many charity shops and not enough clothes shops,our new look is absolutely shocking.The estates,i will admit i was born on the moss but i only stayed until i was too young to remember moving,apparently my family moved because the moss was becoming unsafe,i dont know where these families have come from,i have been to the weston estate once and god not a nice sight,i will NEVER go back,discusting place full of badly behaved kids who all go to the crappy macc high school.Not trying to be racist but the college is full of people who arnt even english. The macc high school lets any old people in who have been rejected from other places.There is nothing good about this town i hated it. I recgnized alot of bullying issues in this town and also its full of old pervy mental men and rapists,it isnt safe for even your teenage daughters to be out in the day here! I loved getting out of there i now live in richmond and its so much better,very friendly and quiet,if you are thinking of moving here,DONT if you have kids they will turn into rats within a day of living here,do what i did and keep clear of this awful chavtown!!!!
