Shrewsbury has to be the home of the chav. Boasting and Index, Argos and a chip shop all one one short street at one time, it is the place to hang out and spit at passers by. There is a mix in Shrewsbury – the chavs and scroats that hang around outside the many shit pubs and KFC etc, and the thirty somethings that think because they live in Shrewsbury and have a few quid that they are middle class and should be treated like royalty.
The place is a f**king dump. Full of twats, chavs and flood defences for the council workers!!!!
I live in Shrewsbury and have to admit that the place is crawling with chavs, emos and goths. This makes the town look awful when they are hanging out on Pride Hill or under the Old Market Hall, it also makes nights out pretty horrendous aswell. On the other hand Shrewsbury is a great place with a huge amount of culture. I would also like to point out that Shrewsbury is home to one of the oldest and best public schools in the country which the father of evolution, Charles Darwin, attended when he was a boy. Ironically the first ever written official rules of football (chav sport) now reside in the school library. It is fair to say some areas of Shrewsbury should be avoided i.e. Ditherington, Monkmoor and Harlescott but other areas such as Kingsland, The Mount and most areas south of the town centre are very nice.

Shrewsbury is a lovely town. Sure it has areas that area a bit drab and uninspiring, but which town doesn’t? It still has lovely individual shops, quaint streets, good pubs and reasonable restuarants. There are even a few night clubs. I have been to a lot of towns in the UK and Shrewsbury is compfortably one of the best. Next time you visit have a good look around the whole town centre.
Hey, I’m from Shrewsbury, and it honestly isn’t all as bad as you say. True it’s full of waste of space chavs, hence why I left school 6 months early, but it’s not a dump. It is actually quite a nice place – the chav free areas, anyway.
