swansea,chaviest place on earth

This article has: 22 Comments

i’ve lived in swansea all of my life and  i have to say of all the places ive been to, the chavs in my home town are the worst.
the most popular hangout is the city centre high st,the job centre is located here and its close to dyfatty flats, full of heroin addicts. walking down high st in the day is bad enough but at night you’re taking your life into your hands, the city centre is full of chavs especially on a monday, 15 year old girls with those piercings above their lips ,pack out primark with their prams ,greggs bakeries are another favourite to get their brats their pasties, oxford st is full of them , gangs of chavs with prams outside the 99p shop and of course soccer sports,if it wasn’t for chavs i dont think soccer sports would be open , the chavs go there for their tracksuits and nike air max trainers, and of course to buy the latest trainers in chav style for their babies.all the chav girls have yellow hair, elizabeth duke earrings, and about 40 rings on each finger, guaranteed every sentence they speak ends in the word MUSH,im hoping to move out of this s**thole soon as its really starting to get me down, me and my mates dont even drink much in the city centre any more, because of the amount of chavs, thank god for the new sa1 development, otherwise we’d have nowhere to go, any body considering visiting this pit don’t bother, you wont be missing anything.

Loving the fact that people say blaenymaes is a scummy area when they have not even been through there, I once lived in the area of Gorseinon, and I can honestly say that there is more snakes living there than in Blaenymaes. Yeah it is poverty stricken, but being poor does not make someone a bad person. Many people in the area including myself have fallen on hard times, and in many cases its a means to an end, and yeah there are people in the area who don’t work, and don’t intend to work, but its the same in every estate, town, city, village. So before you pass judgment on urban areas take a look around you!!

I’ve lived on a Swansea council estate my whole life. I’m not a chav I don’t fit in at all.. I hate Swansea I feel sorry for anyone who moves here.
Here- you are one or the other, there’s not much of a gap inbetween. We have some super rich people but majority are just chavs. Heroin is a MASSIVE issue, don’t walk around town on a week day late afternoon because it’s full of alcoholics. NOBODY WORKS IN SWANSEA WE NEED HELP!!!! It’s heartbreaking how much my town has changed. Teenage pregnancy is the only way out for most girls and nearly everyone I was in school with either moved away or had a baby before 20. I will be joining the masses and moving out, ASAP! before I end up on smack with a baby!

I love Swansea…..one of my favorite places of all time…actually its Number 2 on my list of where I want to retire….every town has its s**t-holes..but Swansea has everything you need and want….They have the first Football Club in Wales…Go you Jack Bastards!!!!!!!

  5. Which Chavvy school did you go to? says:

The chavs in Swansea must be really bad as they seem to have stolen all the capitals from your rant!

  6. Karen says:

In 2003 I picked Swansea as the best place in the UK to spend my retirement, and haven’t felt a moment of regret. The natural environment is stunningly beautiful, the people are friendly, funny and kind, and the city has all the amenities. It’s very easy to persuade people to come and visit me now, once they’ve spent a few days here they are always eager to return.
It’s true that there are some poverty stricken and disadvantaged people living in the area, but after 25 years of living abroad I was horrified to return to a UK where “sink estate” was a concept generally used and understood. Blaming the victims isn’t going to improve the situation. I blame Murdoch, Thatcher and her successors.

the places around the swansea city center are rough. in particular : blaen y meas
    penlan
    gendros
    dyfaty lights (full of druggys)
    townhill
    mayhill

These are mostly inhbatited by scum. BUt if u go about 15 mins out of the town centre you get to the nicer parts like :llangyfelach,
gorseinon (not as nice as loughor but still nice)

So basically lots of the areas in the middle of swansea are mostly council houses that the council give to drug addicts, alchoholics and other chavs..

    • sa1jacks says:

      What are you on about?
blaen y meas, penlan, gendros are not even around the town, according to your geography then, sketty, uplands, are also around Swansea then are they?
Let’s not forget there are some really nice residential areas in Swansea also. Yeah sure there are parts that are a bit run down but you name one city of our size or bigger that does not have this problem? Look at London arguably one of the greatest cities in the world and surrounded by council houses.
      Check you logic boy!!

Anyone using the surrounding area as a positive for this s**thole is deluded. The gower is just as s**t as the rest of the area. Went there last summer and refused to remove my shoes after seeing five, yes five, discarded hyperdermic needles in completely seperate places.

The asshole of the earth, inhabited by the fecal matter that dribbles from it.

Even though my user name has the word cardiff in it….please dont feel that this is a reason to slate me! even though i am cardiff girl born and bread, i often come down to swansea for a visit.

Yes it is slightly chavvy in areas, but so is cardiff! so is everywhere. I come to swansea coz it has things that cardiff doesnt have.

I love to visit in the summer….it has real beaches….rather than the bay at cardiff…or penarth and barry that is mainly covered in dog poo and litter.
Swansea always looks so nice in the sunshine…and u cant beat a nice bike ride along swansea bay down to the mummbles.
Also the no sign bar in swansea is a real nice lil ( well quite big actually ) place for a nice drink and catch up with friends.
Whoever has dissed swansea has obviously not been to 98% of towns or citys in wales…As Swansea and cardiff are the top ones in wales…try going to newport…then you will have something to write about!

I hate chavs, there again I hate jacks so. ;)

  13. Marie says:

What a completely lopsided view of a City which has far more to offer than the bland and totally obvious SA1 development. Swansea like all cities has rough parts and rough elements, however there are delightful aspects to it too. You fail mention the Gower, how beautiful this is and how much there is to do there, last time I checked surfing, windsurfing, climbing, sea fishing, kayaking, horse riding and learning the fly small aircraft are just some of things you can do. Then there is the Mumbles with it’s family run, independent restaurants, ice cream parlours and coffee shops. Additionally, that Swansea University is world renowned for engineering and that The University of Swansea was the first to offer a MA in multi media and is still considered to be at for the forefront of this field. Then there is the warm and friendliness that your average Jack gives out. I could go on but I’m short on time but I will say if you had the impetus/intelligence/drive/whatever you are lacking to see through your plans to leave Swansea and lived somewhere else you would recognise good parts of Swansea far out weight the bad.

how could you say that about swansea? speaking as a gay man i have to say swansea is great,i love high street because of all the gay bars they have there,i have lots of fun there on weekends.

  15. Gareth says:

Did you see my Mum on Oxford street? She usually shops down there. When I’m away, my Mum pops into Primark to get me some socks to send in the post. When I’m home she always goes to Greggs and grabbs a pair of sausage rolls for me. When I’m away, she often takes my gran along Oxford St, first left, across the Kingsway and up to the Winsor cafe. It’s been there for years. I love the place. Best sit down chippy ever. Its hard to argue against that fact – I know, i’ve tried loads of chippies.

My Mum was seventeen when she had my big brother. She’s been going shopping on Oxford street, Swansea, for about forty years. She likes it – and so do I. I hate waiting outside the shops for her, but I like her and I like Oxford Street, Swansea. Reminds me of when I was a baby and used to sit in my pram, with all my Mum’s friends fussing and saying nice things to each other about each other and how nice their babies were. Every nice sentence used to end in the word ‘Mush’.

Now me and the other boys in the prams are in our thirties.
    We say mush too.

We love our Mums and our city.

We hurt people who disrespect either

    • Matthew Lewis says:

you are such a chav sonny jim :L, but anyway. I live in Swansea and its not too bad to be honest, yes sure it is awash with chavs galore and and tracksuits and addidas caps at every corner shop but it still a rather nice city and something that people should not be embaressed about. i live in Penyrheol, Gorsienon and the chip shop, roma, is lovely. Fantastic chicken nuggets, better than mcdonalds in my opinion, allthough mcdonalds chicken nuggets are quite nice cold. this comment may not make much sense but i dont care i enjoyed commenting :D , also im not a chav, i am a Geek more than anything
