You will only know Nailsea if you have lived in or near there. I have lived in the village next door to it for ten years. It is a hellhole. It is degenerate, grey and the people are just disgusting. All thats there is a new look, a SOMERFIELD and a superdrug and oh yes, a TESCO. Everyone is either old or on benefits. Single mums galore. Everytime I go home from University, the very atmosphere makes me sick.
The desperate ‘alternative’ wannabes with their skinny jeans, dyed hair and h&m jackets, to the other extreme of ‘hoodies’ who hang around the town centre in an attempt to look threatening; in their dark hoodies, horrible hair, their tracksuit bottoms and their desperate air hanging around them, and in the meantime shouting obscenities at old ladies, and living in the large proportion of council houses. Oh and a skate park, which you should only go to in the day unless you have a death wish. If you grow up in Nailsea, you will never leave. Ever.
If you say that no one ever leaves then the chances are that you’re just excited because your UCAS application just cleared for your middle intelligence degree at a middle class British university. It’s ok, when your time runs out there you will no doubt be thankful that your parents are still living in Nailsea so that you can letch off of them whilst you build yourself a new career in Waitrose!
Pretty much a town filled with idiots who have no aspiration to move onward in life.
This is a very funny thread indeed.
You are clearly a narrow minded moron,
you say you live in a neighbouring village which you obviously think is so superior, so which is it? Backwell, a cross road lined with houses, a few run down pubs and a spar?
Clevedon, Run down seaside village with a few supermarkets and small shops and 95% of the population is over 60
Portishead, actually the only one that is even close to the status of nailsea, actually seams to be a up-and coming village, but it is packed with chavs, far more than nailsea. lived in nailsea 7 years and never had a kid throw a bottle at my car, pass through portishead 2-3 times a month and ive had a bottle thrown at me once and people moved road works into the middle of the road “for a laugh”
Clearly you are a absalute moron, please go away and gain some reality.
and…. the part of nailsea where I grew up had lots of old buildings, greenery and fields I could see from my bedroom window. Its not all grey and dreary, just the modern bits.
I’m from Nailsea, I lived there from the age of two to the age of 19. I am currently studying law (a top degree) at a top university (its in the russell group, a group of elite universities). While I agree with a lot of what you say, growing up there does not mean never leaving: four kids know from my year and who live in nailsea are currently at oxbridge and many others are at great universities (myself included)
i want o go to the skate park soon im from wales with my friends, ima bit catious of the “locals” because my friend got mugged when he went there. so i guess im asking is it common or was that just a one off
I would hardly describe Nailsea as a chavtown!
I moved to South East London 20 years ago and have just moved back to Nailsea and i can tell you that i feel a hell of alot safer here than i did back in the Capital.
None of the drug and knife crime i witnessed on a weekly basis, okay there may be a few kids who hang around and think staring at someone for 10 seconds is hard but i just laugh at them!
You dont appreciate this town until you move away
I hate this deadend place. I really, really do.
nailsea is well good init. skate park is swnd. ye and da rivalry with backwell is safe. we fight all da time
Nailsea is brilliant, I spent years there, went to school there (and was moved against my will!!,) have since lived in several other towns and villages all over the country and believe me, the grass is not always greener. It’s what you make it and I have some brilliant memories of Nailsea and can’t wait to get back. Wherever you go you get extremes and good and bad, it’s life and variety is good. So what Nailsea isn’t a picturesque market village or thatched town, it is what is is, and it’s a normal UK town.
Nailsea is good
My problem with Nailsea is the estate agent HENSONS they are very stange outfit, never call you, make up appointments, lie about viewings that never took place, become agressive when challenged and put in adverts of properties that do not exist
You say Nailsea’s bad, yet you say you live in a village next to it, All the neighbouring villages are dead and full of old tossers and have even less than Nailsea. Nailseas fine , theres no more chav’s here than there are anywhere else. You get the odd few by Tesco’s and in the Precinct and some around Greenfield Crescent, the rest of Nailsea’s fine.
I don’t get how you can call Nailsea people disgusting, Have you ever been to Backwell…?
lmao this is soo funny…..
id hardly call nailsea a hellhole – its pretty damn boring alot of the time, but if you think nailsea is a hellhole then either you’re simply a dumbass or you can’t have seen many REAL hellholes.
Im not denying that there are SOME chavs in nailsea, but the ‘cliques’ described above are a horribly single minded and blind to the people who live there. I am however intrigued as to which catorgory the person who wrote that would put me and the people i know in – i wouldnt say we fit to any.
It also makes me laugh that they pointed they lived in ‘the village next door’, meaning backwell i presume. For anyone who doesnt know, nailsea and backwell’s youths are in alot of rivelry, and to be honest, backwell is pretty much the same as nailsea, except with less shops.
Rant done for today, but i think if anyone has never been to nailsea before, reads the above post and then goes, they will realise just what a load of bs it is XD
hellhole????
the worst thing about it is probably the weather….
I notice you dont put the town you are from then!
Im from Clevedon but now work in Nailsea and i think while you are right its gray and probably very unappealing… The people are wonderful! (As someone who used to not like Nailsea till i lived and worked in the community)
How can you make such general statements which if someone said about you would hate to be boxed in by i am sure!
Every small town has its issues, but Nailsea certainly isnt a loss.
It just makes me sad that any town has to be writen about in this way rather than looking for the possitive… which creates a better effect?
I live there. Its absolutaly nothing like you described. Sure, there are chavs, but there’re chavs pretty much everywhere in Britain and I would not say we had it worst at all. And you obviously haven’t been to most places in Nailsea if you think this, it sounds like you lived in the skatepark while you were here. And saying its chavvy because we have a somerfield is ridiculous.. its just a supermarket and itsnot like we begged the company to come here.
I’m sorry that you must have had a terrible experience here, but don’t stereotype everyone as either ‘emo’ (coz thats what you meant, I guess) or chavs, because there are only minorities of people like that here. I guess you must have had a terrible time here because I don’t know anyone who would say that about Nailsea.
Basically my end point to this is that you must have not been to very many places if you think Nailsea is the worst ‘chavtown’ in England, and I’m sure everyone who lives here would agree with me. I have also lived here ten years, but have never once thought that it’s appalling as you described. Go to ‘rough areas’ of any city, and then come back and see if you still agree that a little town in North Somerset is a ‘hellhole’.
I have no idea what you’re talking about!
I have lived in nailsea my whole life and i do agree that there are some Chavs, but there really aren’t that many!
Nailsea is a nice, respectful area, mainly populated by old ladies who like flower shows and that sort of thing!
And the single mum thing… i’ve only ever seen a few, just because you see a younger person pushing a pram along by herself doesn’t make her a single mum!
Besides, what’s wrong with skinny jeans and H&M hoodies?! I’m a christian and i wear those kind of clothes, that doesn’t make me a ‘rebel’ or a ‘chav’! Personally i think if you took the time not to judge people on the way they look, you’d see that these are just normal people who you really shouldn’t shun. You want some real chavs? Go to bristol or even better london!
thats comepletely stupid, these people dont know what theyre talking about, skatepark after dark if you got a deathwish, yeh sure, coz theres always killers up there, not people late skatin, or anything nooo!
worst places are ricket field green, kingsmead, orchard road and “the crezzy” oh and southfield road and also tescos at night with their shitty cars. hellhole
