Up until the 80′s the town was still marginally habitable, and family friendly. Nowadays it’s just an open sewer on so many levels. It has (unsurprisingly) the biggest drug problem in the country (yes, even bigger than Britain’s most renowned city’s) which is remarkable considering the fact it still doesn’t have a high enough population to be classed as a city. In a desperate move, the council appeals every couple of years for Cackpool to be classified as a city, in order to gain more publicity for tourists, yet fails every time. Then again, the drug issue should come to no surprise due to the poorly regulated nightclubs, for there will always be a handful of corrupt doormen who allow the twattage to slip through the twat filter. Such nightclubs will always attract these generic, drug-dependent pussies who severely lack the confidence to be themselves. Then again, how dare people not have a good night out without the right to knife someone without provocation, or in order to “pull” that bottom-barrel, easy going fat slag leftover of the night, via impressing her, followed by an unlicensed dog-meated kebab for afters. Add to this the large groups of loudmouthed, overconfident, binge-drinking twats who arrogantly refuse to acknowledge their lifestyle to be a form of alcoholism (if not worse). Still, they only tend to see sense by the time they reach their 30′s, by which time they cue in line for a kidney transplant, if lucky.
After 6pm many swinging parks tend to be infested by large gangs, particularly on weekends. I’d like to use to use the term “youths” to describe them but they are clearly in their late teens to early 20′s, even mid 20s. Disturbingly, such groups will “tag” these playgrounds as their domain. The most pathetic of sights is to watch them shamelessly chat up groups of 14 year old girls who watch on in wide-eyed amazement as aforementioned adults arrogantly recite their criminal record, or at least, what they claim to have “done time for”.
One root of the problem is clearly the council. They would rather squander millions on useless, hideous sculptures that are placed randomly on the promenade and town center, with the sole purpose of being vandalized just for looking the way it does.
The cherry on the cake being is that they are now trying to turn Blackpool into a European version of Las Vegas, not taking into account the further problems it would cause with all of the benefit fraudsters / “skint m8″ wasters and junkies it would attract by default. Additionally, the council gets paid substantially to re-house incurable criminals from all over the country, ranging from aggressive junkies, anti-social pricks, alcoholics and last but not least – pedophiles . Naturally, these decisions make decent tenants kick up about the safety of their children. but such complaints always get rebuffed.
The 2 worst areas are, in order, Grange Park and Queens Park. In a retarded move, many vulnerable single mums are located to Grange park and often become victim of endless harassment and anti social arsec**tery by their less than welcoming neighbours. Queens Park on the other hand was so bad that there is now an office of security guards patrolling the area on a daily basis. This however never seems to prevent booze fueled fights breaking out on weekends. On a regular basis these security guards have bricks thrown at them from a safe distance, and are met with constant taunts and verbal abuse by gangs of youths for not allowing the estate to be run down. Initially the company that employs them had a few corrupt guards who actually let junkie scum through on grounds of personally knowing the drug addicts, who wanted to gain access to the blocks to meet their dealers. In turn this made the problem worse. On top of this these handful of corrupt guards had the nerve to berate decent (often vulnurable) tenants just to make it look like they where doing their job. Thankfully they got rightfully fired, albeit not punished.
The problem with such areas is the retarded “grassing” code that so many dicks adhere to. If you report someone for comitting a crime, you get vilified and harassed. Yet any experienced cop will tell you that many of these who claim to adhere to this code would sell out their friends under the right circumstances in a heartbeat, such as getting a “hit” (i.e heroine) or just to save their own skin.
Also, it would appear that bus shelters and phone boxes have some sort of strong, magnetic material mixed into the glass that strongly attracts baseball caps and track suits, to the point of getting smashed up on impact, or so the wearers of such attire will have you believe.
My greatest sympathies goes out to the (legitimately) homeless, who are treated worse than dog s**t by uppity middle-class snobs and superiority-complex ridden chav gimps alike. When not having their nose turned up by the former, they are kicked when down, spat on, urinated on, or (in some cases) set on fire for sport.
For those delusional knobjockeys who want to deny there is a problem, (usually spouted by those who don’t even live here) please do the required research on all my claims, particularly the part on how more pedophiles are re-housed here than anywhere else in the country for “protection”, despite them re-offending time and time again.
All in all Blackpool is a bit s**t.
Well, I have been reading this page for 20 minutes and to be honest most of it is true, I was born in Glasgow and one year later my family and I moved to Blackpool, When I was a child I alway’s thought Blackpool was amazing, Pleasure Beach, Zoo, Ice-cream
. But now its a terrible place to live, My partner and I drove through queens park one night about two years ago and we found a woman drunk behind a car, We helped her up and drove her home which she lived accross from the tall high rise flats in Queens park. Yes she was a drunk and my opinion took drugs. But she appreciated our help, But saying that my father who owns a computer shop on central drive has had constant trouble from drug addicts stealing things from something small like a pack of cd pens priced £1.09 to cd’s/dvd’s priced £10.00, Which goes to show how low these dug addicts can go to make a little money for their next hit, and recently he bought a new shop now further into town, but at the old shop he went in one day to the shop filled with water Why? you ask well the pathetic little smackheads who lived above the shop had a cannibis factory above and somebody stole items and to leave no evidence left the taps on. I my self never go into Blackpool town center so I couldnt make a comment good neither bad as I don’t drink so I dont know what nightlife is except what I read.
But I do know that their are alot of stag and hen parties, When I was younger I worked in a cafe/Takeaway near Lytham road and we had constant abuse from drunk people on hen and stag parties dressed like idiots.
Recently in the paper pathetic little boys aged 12-15 years old burnt down the illumination lights lock-up. The main attraction to this unfortunate town.
Also I read some-one elses comment on child molesters I myself didn’t actually know they came to Blackpool to live a “safe” life. I think that’s disgusting how can any sane human being do that, There are alot of children who will be driven in by the so called love life they always wanted so the percentage of them re-offending will be highly increased.
Also that main story of that young girl I cannot remember her name but it was a few years ago, Who went missing and where did they find her body? In burgers on pizza’s in a specific cafe in Blackpool, They hid her body(what was left of her) in the freezer. They were using one of them sausage grinder machines to mix parts of her skin etc to make the food. I won’t carry on this story but the people were arrested and convicted.
So yes they’re are other bad towns/city’s and people will slag off other towns but until I grew up and realised how bad Blackpool in reality is I have to agree with this article, Blackpool is a bad place to live.
I just noticed reading back on what I have wrote I havent actually wrote anything on Chav’s/Townies. and why? well I actually don’t think they are Blackpool’s main problem. The poor uneducated downfall’s society call smackheads or druggies etc and the rise of clubs casino’s and bar’s are the main problem lacking help from the police who only conentrate on the speed camera’s and nothing else, and not helping or listening to normal and sane human beings who actually need help can prolong a need to drink or do drugs to make them forget about their troubles.

I’m a sandgrownun. Born in the old Glenroyd Hospital, I went to school here and lived here all my life. It’s a s**thole. The only reason I still live here is my family, friends and more importantly my little boy live here (Although he lives with his mum, an excellent example of a skank who has appeared on Jeremy Kyle) Everything in this article is true. The reason the Blackpool manager is happy living here is simple. He doesn’t. He lives in the leafy suburbs of Lytham. 3-4 miles out of town yet a world away from the doss hole we call home.
The problem with Blackpool, and a lot of other areas in this country is the hands off approach to policing. A lot of chavs know they can get away with it, and they push as far as they can.
A good example would be the Queens Park estate. There are gangs of Chavs that roam the estate after dark. There is also a police presence, but that’s in order to let them know that they can’t get up to anything, at least until they go!
One guy mentioned about living in Queens, and how bad that was. Yes, admittedly we are not at that stage yet! However, we’re normally only a few years behind America. So who knows bars on your windows maybe coming to a neighbourhood near you soon!
The only way to effectively deal with all this chavary is to nip it in the bud and make some proper laws that actually work. Reintroduce corporal punishment etc.

There is already estates where theres bars on the windows like the Guiness trust estate in Rochdale where i grew up its called newbold, it has mostly been taken over by the Gypsies now and the bars on the windows are there as they will rob you while your in your bed or not! they dont care either way! I am on the council waiting list for accommodation in blackpool. The list is so long that I think I will never get a place there. If it is as bad as the above say, why the long waiting list. I think they just want it all for them selves and are painting a black picture to keep people from moving there. The Blackpool FC manager seems to be happy with the town.
The reason you wait so long is because our council in all it’s wisdom sold off a lot of the council houses and yet still seem hell bent on allowing all the dregs of society to move here (Usually paeodo’s and criminals straight from prison who can’t go back to their home towns). The manager lives in Lytham, St Annes. A nice area. The only time you see him in Blackpool is on match day.. I don’t blame him..
It’s easy to pick on places. However the overall picture is virtually the same wherever you go in the country. Unless of course you are lucky enough to live in a small village maybe.
The problem is that too many people / governments over the years have been too soft! The do gooders or wishy washy liberal softies! It’s quite common to hear people hiding behind terms like… IT’S A BREACH OF MY HUMAN RIGHTS! Society has been too liberal and lenient with scumbags and they now know how to play the system!
Why are there so many Chavs and scum around? Their parents were Chavs and scum! They were never taught, so don’t know any different. In their minds they are normal and anyone else who tells them different is picking on them and victimizing them!
What’s the solution. Well firstly stop them breeding. Identify chavs and sterilize them. Or at least offer them a bottle of cheap cider each for having the op done! Both males and females. Then a rigorous reeducation type camp. Corporal and capital punishment should be reintroduced and used.
The rot has gone too far drastic measures are needed in order to correct this sad state of affairs!

I hated growing up here, i hate liveing here, and i will laugh the day it all go’s to s**t for the council.
Having smoked pot since childhood i was amazed at how many police / solicitors went to my old dealer to score their own drugs and many other things like that lead me to belive, it’s not so much the populations fault (like they try to blame the parents) but more that of the authoritys, that care about no-one and nothing but their stat’s and cash. I live in Blackpool and do not recognise any of this. We have a sheep mentality here where everybody just enjoys posting the next put down of their town. Grange Park is just like any other council estate and I personally have never witnessed what people are saying about it, and I live a mie away. I frequent town centre(not CENTER) several times a week and have yet to see ANY trouble. i witnessed more fights when I lived in Sydney , Australia, where you will see more chavs (or “bogans” as the Aussies call them) than anywhere i Britain. I also spent 6 months in Brooklyn, New York when i was at Uni, and believe me, until you’ve lived in a place where EVERY house yhas bars on the window and murders make 3 lines in the paper, you don’t know what a BAD place is! Give me a few kids making a nuisance of themselves any day.

Blackpool is a easy accesable holiday resort, where holliday makers let their gaurd down (it’ll never happen to me, im on holliday) that fact alown brings theives, rapest’s and other nastys to the town, not to mention the fact the council get paid to home newly released prisoners, a enitre block in queens town has been devoted to pedophiles, the block right next to houses where children live, their are more murders in this town than you will ever hear of… most are still down as missing ppl (mainly for stat purposes). damn, it was only a year or 2 back when a kebab shop was link’d to a childs disapearance (the op was being polite by saying dog meat), your cat gone missing… check the chinese takeways. yes there are worse places, as you say, in america. but blackpool isn’t that far behind given the number of ppl that live here.
on the same note, iv lived here as said, over 30years, i only learnt about the organized illigal street fighting matches about 4 year ago that are held underground so close to the police station in town, you wouldn’t belive (apparently been runing since the 60′s)
In general though, if you dont get involved with ‘the wrong ppl’ you generaly dont hear about things, or get involved in them, good on you for keeping out of it, being bought up here from birth, i wasn’t so lucky.

you say brooklyn has murders all the time and bars on the windows, you are clearly stereotyping the area, I stayed there for a year, there aren’t bars on every window, brooklyn is one of the safer boroughs of the city, and murders get more than 3 lines in the paper, it isnt one big project, you listen to too much Jay Z my friend…

all very true, most of these ‘people’ are not sand grown’uns but come from other cities. they think as blackpool is by the sea and is a holiday resort then everything will be great when they move here.
reality hits home that jobs are far and few between and money is needed to enjoy the experience of a holiday (not that i’d come to blackpool for a holiday, worst idea of a holiday ever)
