Welcome to the countries biggest dead end town, where nobody works, scum of the earth live & kids play on the street until the early hours of the morning. Everybody I see, smokes weed. Everybody I look at is scum. Everything I do is better than the bastards do that live here.
Outside the 3 blocks of high rise flats, early, every morning, loud music blasts out of one of the windows. People shout up to other flats as they cannot afford credit/credit rating is too poor to get a mobile phone. “Got any puff?” says one layabout. But the listener can’t hear as their appalling taste in music is blasting out too loudly.
You’ve also got the maze of council houses, with endless alleyways which most have been blocked off due to the amount of thugs getting away with crime. What a waste of money, by Thurrock Council. They’re good at that though.
The nearest pub is 40 minutes walk away, although, saying that, it is an incredibily nice pub next to the fort & river. I’d imagine it is so nice beacuse the stupid stonehead scum cannot navigate their stupid bodies there.
If the people are not thugs in the town, they’re incredibily obese, with disgusting boils all over their skin, who just sit in their front garden all day, hoping they’ll win on their £1 scratchcard they have bought from “News, Food & Booze.”
15 year olds walk round with beer, cigarettes & tags on their legs. Mothers, Fathers and Grandparents don’t care about their son, wasting their life in this dead end hole.
The only way for this town to get any better is for someone to come and destroy it. Destroy the scum, destroy the staff dogs, destory the BNP headquaters just down the road in Grays, and destroy all of the scum smoking weed and destroy all of the scum living in the housing here.
Ok, there are a couple of decent people living here. You can see from their faces that they hate it just as much as every other decent person does.

Yes you claim that ”everything you do is better than the barstards that live here” but being someone that was brought up in tilbury and knows the community can straight up say to you that some of the people that live in tilbury have got more dignity and class than you have in your little finger, and like it or not will always be better than you. In Tilbury you are lucky not to get beated up when you go to the shop around 8-9pm.

Ive lived in Tilbury for the last 27 years , yes there are some idiots in tilbury and also some really nice people too, who would do anything to help you . Ive also brought up 4 children who are all in work and never been in trouble with the police, and they are a credit to me, all going to St chads school at some time in their life, and all did very well there with lots of a to c grades,I will agree that drinking and smoking weed is very pevalent in some places and the smell hits you, but ive smelt that in grays and other areas around Essex. Only a small minority of people ruin the town for other people, also i and my husband have been lucky enough to get jobs and work .We are not all scroungers. so dont tar us all with the same brush.

I have lived in Tilbury for 25 years, I have always worked and have brought up a very respectable young lady who attends the local school, there are parts of every town up and down the country that have good areas and bad areas, yes the pub was closed down because of fights again there are fights in all pubs not just Tilbury. I love my town, my neighbours are nice and most of the children are pleasant, again there are children in every area that have bad mouthed not just Tilbury. Next time you come to Tilbury try opening your eyes and you will see that the majority of people are nice, friendly and a pleasure to live amongst.
I’ve livedin Tilbury for 13 years thats all of my life it is how you described it im a decent family that all work all pay taxes and in my house hold i suspected that everyone put together is atleast over 100k + a year i would love to move to stanford because thats where i go to school but there are a few bad apples in the bunch peole who are shouting in the middle of the night, theives that espically like my house so yeah you just described Tilbury Town

from other kids at school parents are to blame abit but no control for 7

Its just when people come and visit Tilbury they just see all the tossers about because all the decent lot are at work! So then they only see 1 side of Tilbury.
But even though the children and teenagers that are naughty they always say hello, help old ladies and so on…
And for the smoking weed part I personally know people that enjoy smoking weed after they come home from a hard day at WORK, just to relax them and chill out, not like going for a bottle of wine and getting drunk, don’t know what you doing, acting silly, cant remember what you did , getting violent and so on…
See weed just keeps you calm and relaxed and you still keep very good HIGH PAID job, so I would say weed is safer than alcohol, ye it may have nicotine but look how many people smoke cigarettes in this world!!

I was born and bred in Tilbury. I was educated at St.Marys primary school and Grays Convent, Grays. I moved away when I was 19 years old but still return to visit family and friends. I am a successful business woman who earns 50k+ a year and has NEVER been on benefits. Every town has good and bad areas, people and role models. I agree that the town as a high number of unemployed and uneducated people but the local authorities allow them to claim benefits and not work, the schools are shown to be improving but cannot do much if the parents arent making sure the kids attend and behave whilst there. People using alcohol and substances to block out their grim existance need guidance, education and to be shown theres a better way to live. Its all about attitude and ambition.
The police should take more action against those that commit crimes and rule the town with their/their family reputation, this is dark ages mentality but unfortunately it still goes on. Thurrock council should take more action against those that park illegally, dont keep their properties in an acceptable manner, the benefits agency should be tough on claims -give to those who are genuinely in need of help and force those who arent to work or have no claim. Schools need to take action immediately against parents if children are not attending or misbehaving.
If crime, anti social behaviour, abuse of the benefits system was tackled in this town then it would be a good place to live. The people of Tilbury cannot be blamed for the reputation, not all residents are bad and some want change but cannot do much when the people in power are not.
I am pleased I grew up in Tilbury and dont feel ashamed of the fact at all. It has made me the person I am, motivated me to do well and succeed in life, to want better. I have achieved many things in life and am proud of my roots. Its kept me grounded, down to earth and street wise-in the world we live in, all valuable traits in my opinion.

John Wilson: Towns don’t make kids bad so that they end up in prison, it’s poor parenting that does that. Why don’t we all blame the bricks and mortar that surrounds us for the social ills of society (well maybe blocks of flats don’t help, but still blaming the town isn’t the way forward).
I moved to Tilbury a couple of years ago, and when I see kids going round to Manor primary all smiley, innocent and eager, there’s no wrong in them. I appreciate that it may be a short term thing, and that their parents will ruin them and leave them without vision, imagination or ambition, but still don’t blame the kids from day one.
Tilbury with a little make over, pulling down the estate and tower blocks to the rear of Adelaide Road, stopping the locals using the verges as parking spaces etc would be a very desirable town, It’s got history, wide open spaces, lots of semi detached houses with large gardens, the river etc .
I suspect that Tilbury’s ills can be ascribe 100% to successive Thurrock councils, who have used it as a dumping ground, without realising that one fine day they are going to have to clean it up. That time has come and Thurrock council will hopefully pay the price for using Tilbury as a sink estate, learn the lesson and not lump all the indolent’s in place again, where they can become their own worst enemy.
God!!! u r soo wrong i havent always lived in tilbury i have only lived here for the last 2 years, i used to live in maidenhead berkshire and found that more idiots live there then hear!! Parts of tilbury are awfull like anywere in the uk but my road is lovely my neighbours are very nice people and will help you out if you need them, none of them are obese they do work, i and my partner are not obese, we both work (well i did until i had my baby) my house is loveley and most of the kids i have come into contact with are very nice maybe instead of judging people by just looking at them you should talk to themand you may be surprised at how nice and hardworking most people aere here and fyi there is a pub called then anchor on civic square so you didnt look hard enough!! You obviusly lived a very she;tered child hood if you think this didnt happen where you lived. Ev erywhere you go you will find parts that are rough so dont just label a town a chav town untill youve lived there and got to know the ppl.
