Bradford, West Yorkshire. Population 501,700 (the vast majority of which are chavs, Asian drug dealers and partially disabled alcoholics on benefits). Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be enough words available in the English language to emphasise what a complete and utter f**king shit-hole this place really is.
Apparently Bradford is the sixth largest city in the country, in terms of population, and was nominated for European City of Culture in 2008. Located just a few miles south of Ilkley Moor and the Bronte country, with its apparently diverse culture and industrial heritage, outsiders may be forgiven for thinking that Bradford might be a nice or interesting place to visit. “Why don’t we pop over to Bradford and have a trip to the National Media Museum Marjory?”

Bradford is literally hell on earth. The city centre resembles a squalid cess pit, full of monstrous partially demolished 60′s concrete office blocks, Pound shops, amusement arcades, prostitutes, heroin addicts, Eastern European car-jackers, Asian drug dealers, pre-pubescent mums and mad alcoholic tramps having arguments with themselves. It needs to be blown off the face of the earth. There is NOTHING good about Bradford.
Dare to use public transport around the Interchange and you will inevitably get stabbed. Venture a mile or so out of the city centre (if you dare) and things don’t improve one bit. The area of Manningham (famous for some of Britains worst ever riots in 2001) resembles a third-world war zone. Listerhills, with it’s derelict crumbling mills and huge selection of emaciated, smack riddled whores wandering the streets, even in broad day light, is literally a no-go area, whilst Great Horton, Frizinghall and Thornbury offer nothing but row upon row of run-down or boarded up terraced houses, where you’ll struggle to find anybody at all who speaks English. Venture a couple miles North to Shipley and be confronted by a population of uber-chavs who reside on notorious council estates such as Windhill and West Royd. These cider swilling, wizz snorting, tracksuit wearing monsters are truly dangerous people, who will no doubt “kick t’ f**k out o’ yer” if you even glance in their direction. Set eyes on the architectural ogre of Shipley clock tower and you will no doubt require some sort of counselling.
Bradford: A City of Extremes. Extreme violent crime, sexual crime, murder, burglary, drug abuse, unemployment etc. etc.
Apparently Bradford Council is now slashing its workforce by 20% to enable funding of the construction of a huge pond in the city centre. Great work! This will no doubt be full of supermarket trolleys, traffic cones, syringes and dead pissed-up tramps within minutes of opening.
As if Bradford’s reputation hadn’t been tarnished enough over the last 30 years, it now boasts another famous serial killer to bolster further it’s image as the true infected arse-hole of the UK.
Bradford………Avoid it
Bradford is a multi cultural city as it supports racial harmony between each and every colour it supports the belief of community cohesion. It was a boomtown of the Industrial Revolution, and amongst the earliest industrialised settlements, rapidly becoming the “wool capital of the world”. Bradford is also home to one of the best teams in the world thats right bradford bulls (not sure about bradford city). Its home to one of the best currys yes thats right Bradford was named England’s Curry Capital 2010. and am sure you loved the currys here eating them whilst drinking your bottle of cobra. To some its hell but to me its heaven a place where everyone is seen as family you walk out of your front door and get smiles from everyone, the birds be tweeting the currys be cooking and i be happy. Yes, on the surface Bradford can appear very intimidating and full of no-hope, but get to know the people a bit better and you will find that most people are actually quite friendly and decent. The older generation in Bradford are very proud and self-respecting people. Having lived in Manchester, I would even say that the drug dealers/users, persistent offenders, alcoholics etc etc of Bradford are not all that bad really! One time, I was lost in the middle of one of the estates and stopped a young lad to ask for directions. He really went out of his way to show me how to get to the bus stop. It was only later that I clicked he had gloves on in the middle of summer! But still, he was nice enough to take time out to show me the way! Generally, if you are OK with people they are OK with you. Overall, people are friendly, even if sometimes scary looking or acting contrary to legislation.
There are other good things about Bradford…the surrounding country side is beautiful, Lister Park is a gem, the curry houses are some of the best in the UK, there is some fantastic architecture in the city centre, the smaller, outlying villages like Idle, Thornton, Saltaire, Bingley, Baildon, are pretty nice. The air is fresh (unlike polluted cities like Manchester), transport links are OK.
What Bradford DOES need though is greater employment based in the city centre, more venues for nightlife, more mixed communities. But, overall, people need to look below the surface and get to know the people and the hidden gems.
I work in Bradford , but live elsewhere. It is a bit of a shithole, true. There are many idiots that live there, true. It is a bit depressing, true.
But the people are amazing(on the whole), I am always welcome in the houses I attend.
The photography exhibitions are second to none, best outside London bar Newcastle. The food is amazing.
I can think of worse places, that’s for sure.

I was born in Shipley and have lived in Baildon and Pudsey. I would agree with many of the observations made in the article as I have seen it for myself. I’ve also lived in Birmingham, London and Manchester and they have their scummy areas too.
Bradford is a 1960′s concrete shithole that exists in the heart of industrial heritage, city is already going into further deprivation as huge masses of slovakian gypsies are coming in search of benefits. No one of that gypos consideres himself as working and no single recruiment agency consideres them as employable. In that case inner city slums such as girlington or manningham are growing into housing benefit run no go ghettos.
Other residents of Bradford are illiterate asians running useless stock stores or even more often selling drugs to each other as they use it in industrial amounts.
If you want to shop or eat out Bradford may be a good destination
as there is a plenty of shops and restaurants with comparable prices.
Night out in Bradford means that if you are a woman you’ll find sex offers from asians on each corner you will set your your foot.
If you are a man you’ll rather have a good time.
No go areas and ghettos certainly are BD3,4,5,6,7 and 8 also some parts of BD10 such as Ravenscliffe and outside towns like Keighley. This places are notorious for knife crime and arson attacks also gun crime and gang involvement. Attacks on pensioners became widely popular in recent days.

What a load of rubbish! I’m from Bradford and go to Uni in Birmingham and I can tell you now, I’d take my hometown anyday!
On these ‘notorious’ estates I have me some of my best friends and I can tell you shipley is NOT full of chavs. You obviously DID NOT visist Saltaire (an historical, beautiful village next to shipley). Most people are lovely and yes, there are a few rough area but there are in any big city! I can tell you now Brum is an absolute shit hole.
If you only look for bad points in a city you’ll find them but I can tell you for sure Bradford has some amazing good points. So find another city to lie about!

Bradford is a huge city and every city has its faults: Leeds, Manchester and London were not the only ones, and from all the places in Bradford you only seem to mention three areas what about Guisely, Ilkely, Thornton Village the list can go on. So stop stereotyping Bradford on what you heard on the news as not all of it is true and to the extent the media claim, you don’t have to be a genius to know the media lie and manipulate people into what they want them to believe.
