Carr vale is a small village in the bourgh or Bolsover. This is one of 2 main places where chavs come from in Bolsover, the other being the ‘whimps’. It is said by many residents that the house are sliding down the hill, this is backed up by the fact that many residents are unable to get house insurance because of this, and the fact that they have no money. At the bottom of carr vale is ‘new bolsover’ or the model village, this is were the 10 year old chavs spend there days, saying such quotes as ‘fackin cam on den!’ when there 10 miles away from you. They tend to walk around with there tracky bottoms around there ankles and with there hands down the front of there trousers.
i move to carr vale only 4 months ago and so far i find it a nice place to live it quiet nice countryside people i have met so far have been nice to talk to and helpfull to me
has anybody everheard of ryan tatum
i think luke is correct on most fronts of his argument but it seems to me every1 who lives either down on the wimps or vale likes it and people whom live up bolsover dont like it i think thats mostly because when the drug addicted scroats which by now have 2 24/7 chemists up bolsover also make their nightly trip up here to steal bikes and tools . i actually was the first person in bolsover to be put on an asbo me and my brother that is we was made an example out of but however nowadays its no better down the hill people do and get away with much more than i did i.e just last week a van was set on fire across from the park noone knows who did it and a 2 friends of mine had there bike nicked one was worth around 3 grand and it was found in a bush near moorlane shop and the other was a harley roughly £12000 worth thats never bin seen since theres has even been people pinching catylitic converters of vans for scrap
I am proud to say that I live in Bolsover. I am under no illusion that we collectively have our fair share of social problems and people you may deem to be undesirables. Yes, there are those that would fall under the definition of “chav” and yes, you can see teenagers drinking cider. So what? This is neither a new problem, nor a problem exclusive to Carr Vale, the Model or Bolsover itself.
I have lived here for four years now. You know what? I chose to live here. It is a beautiful place, surrounded by some stunning natural landscapes. The castle is one of the finest in England and the people retain their generous spirits, humour and sense of community. Yes, some people still hold a grudge against the systematic Tory destruction of the UK mining industry – if you don’t know why then you clearly weren’t directly affected by it. This part of the world is still nursing social wounds from the strike over 25 years ago.
Having read some of the ridiculous comments made here, I could not help but write this. I feel these types of comments incite hatred and perpetuate the ignorance that is the root of so many of our problems. To be fair I find the premise of this whole website to be fundamentally wrong. Unless people defend their towns this will just end up a catalogue of hate-speech directed at every place in the whole UK.
Do me a favour – be part of the solution, not the problem.
SCUMBAGS!!!
You cant blame the s**ttiness of a place on the recession, Carr Vale has always been a s**t hole and it always WILL be. Full of ex-Miners, BRING BACK MAGGY THATCHER.
Any way, you must have thought it was on here or you would’nt have searched it.
shaart arrt TO ME MANDEMS YO YO GOT ME CORSA B 1 leeeta
If you think Bowzer is the worst place to live in the East Midlands , you’ve obviously never been to Bulwell, Arnold, Mapperly, Allenton, Shirebrook, Clay Cross etc
Agreed, it is becoming a dump, but that’s due to unemplyment and poverty.
THe Sportsdrome shutting signalled the beginning of the end for Devil’s Hill…..
Luke you need to sort yourself out pal, I think it quite sad justysitting and writing about deprived areas and that. Bozza is a orate place to live good community and that, got loads of history within the town and it was a ok mining village along with the surrounding villiage e.g clowne, cresswell and so on..
All I have to say is shut up moaning the world is full of struggleing places. Not everyone is born with spoon in mouth. Heads up for you luke s**t happens so be a normally person like eveveryone else. Shut you moaning. Look at the cities found loads of things up with them ya lowlife
hilarious
Has had* sorry it’s late, eyes arent working!
It is very clear to see that this “Luke” guy, has has 1 bad experience in Bolsover/Carr Vale, and judged it on this 1 experience. Has a chav said boo to you, and you got scared? Thats what my money is on!
Right lets get this straight, i dont care about spelling/punctuation on the internet. But at least i dont start a sentence with a full stop, im currently at university doing an engineering degree, so i must be able to spell or i would’nt be were i am today, would i?
Also most of would move if you had the chance, then slag carr vale off.
Microsoft world spell check is a wonderfull thing isn’t it?
I can only conclude that some of the profoundly ignorant commenters on here are just lonely individuals looking for attention.
I’ve lived in Carr Vale for a couple of years and think it’s a great place to live, being on the edge of a nature reserve/countryside and with a good convenience shop and takeaways. The people are friendly and although the area may be deprived economically, there’s no sign of any graffiti or vandalism and there are plenty of signs of inward investment through the renovation the older housing stock, as well as the new developments around the edge of the area. I’ve never experienced any bother from anyone and feel far safer in Carr Vale than in any City. There are good transport links as well, being close to the new junction on the M1, and Chesterfield’s only a 15min drive away (and there’s a regular bus service).
It broke my heart to read this. my family lived in Carr-Vale during the war when the men knew how to graft and the women knew how to cook good healthy meals. Everyone helped each other, through the good times and the bad.
Men went to the pub to quench their thirst and dust encrusted lungs from spending days underground. Not many women drank.
It was a struggle, what with rationing and a fair amount of poverty.
But the people were good and I remember them with affection.
It isn’t Carr-Vale or Bolsover that are the pits, its the attitude of the people living there now, who no longer care. They make the place what it is now and how they were brought in this so called affluent society.
Carr Vale ……. May not be the prettiest of places – but it happens to be one of the places I have lived with the greatest community spirit …. There is good and bad in all areas … I moved away for the urban life where the ‘living’ was easier and I cant wait to get back – hopefully within the next few months! I’ve found for the majority in and around Carr Vale that they treat as they are treated and for you to have such a negative view on its residents Luke – I wonder if it says more about you than them?
I would like to apply my stamp of approval:
Carr Vale is one of the darkest, untidiest places in and around the ChavTastic town of Bolsover. The main pub, which was quite ok, is now a low-cost convenience store and this has happened to other pubs in the main town, the Cross Keys is now a Foulton’s Freezer Shop.
You can see many a chav, benefit cheat or general lout quaffing copious amounts of reduced price Special Brew on the dank street corners waiting for unsuspecting patrons of the Chinese Take-Away (Mandarin House) to return to their parked vehicles in order to relieve them of their wallet, watch and mobile phone.
Bolsover is not much better, with an equally rife contingent of chavs helping themselves, illegally, to the spoils of local Catalogue Shop; which has automatic sliding doors and no security staff.
During the day this area goes close to passing as a nice place to live with just a sprinkling of 60+ year old drunkerds gobbing big green spit balls into the litter bins and urinating against the sole pelican crossing. however, the queues in the budget freezer shops, as the resident unemployed and mentally ill people fight for their share of cheap fish-fingers and turkey twislers, are an unwelcome place to be as fist fights and swearing matches ensue.
At night; be warned, the hoodies gather in great numbers with their knocked-off iPhones playing Tiny Tempah, or Dubstep Music, on loud speaker and endless supply of cheap cider. They will taunt you, rob you, ridicule you and most probably physically assault you if you dare venture onto the streets.
how did u come up with is comment u must have gone somewer else pal coz all the things u say dont match up
Bizarre. Have you ever been to Carr Vale?
You opinion is not just completely wide of the mark with regards to what the area is like, but it is full of glaring factual errors.
Bolsover is a distinct town, I will have to agree there are lots of unagreable people situated in the area. However, the last time I was there I didn’t come across many cockneys or southerners.
“fackin come on den” is most likely to be heard from your guy Ritchie DVD collection, not from an old northern coal mining town.
Nice ditty, and a solid 5 on 10 for effort and punctuality!
It seems your obviously one of the ‘thickos’ you comment about Luke as your spelling leaves a lot to be desired.
i live in bolsover and i cant wait to get out the F***ing place! its a dive, full of idiots and vandals direspecting people’s property, constant robberies etc…. the place would be fine…. just all the scumbags that live there. luckily i dont live in carr vale but unfortunately i live on a connecting road between bolsover and carr vale, where nobody dares leave their car on the street because guarenteed itll get vandilised and if they move it to the private road to the back, its dark enough for theives to break in it.
the place needs nuking, but take all the nice people out first!
I live in carr vale. I have lived here for most of my life and whoever wrote this quote thing about it is
obviously very narrow minded and never visited carr vale. Boza ‘whimps’. a
nd carr vale have a very good close
Community best countryside and views in derbyshire and I would never want to live anywer else!
i live in bolsover and, what is the point in critisizing the people that live in bolsover, nobody talks like that anywhere in bolsover, you should come up to bolsover and see for yourself, you would be prooved very very wrong !!!
I live locally, my mother and farther have both lived for a breif time in bolsover, they have both said its the worse place around, there are many jokes about bolsover, and all the thicko’s retards and chavs who get on the 82/83 bus ask for the castle estate or bolsover, its quite litterally the worst place in the east midlands
…is the Castle Estate FARTHER away than Bolsover? To put it BRIEFLY, you are LITERALLY calling the kettle black.
