Well what can i say about hyde gee cross its population is filled with smack heads asbo teenagers smelly old drunks and pakistani people that cant speak a word off english .
To start with – The smack heads well you will normaly see a smack head in the town center of hyde asking you for 20p what then goes up to a pound or they will be running pushing there newest robbed mounting bike to the nearest phonebox to ring for there bag they will probley be wearing a cap trainers from the 90s and clothes they have stolen from outside the charity shop the night before it will normaly be around 9 or 11 am when you will see one after that you might see one around midnight to early morning when they are mooching round your garden robbing you blind if you see a smackhead with your stuff they have just stolen they will automaticly tell you they found it. nearly all of the smackheads round hyde will be hopping about because they have DVT from all the drug use.
The asbo teenagers – well the asbo teenagers are most often called Jodie Chelsea Charlotte Nicole Lauren Amy or sophie As for the boys they could be called enything from JJ Yoges or Diddy the asbo teenagers CHILL on the tracks the cemertry the market any were and every were they can basicly they are allways pissed up in there henleys jumpers with the pants tucked in there socks that is if they havent got there bedware on the girls look like umper lumpers and a few of them wear the hair like amy winehouse if not they will have there hair scraped back with a greasy fringe scraped to the side of there forheads and a scruffy bun on top off there head with bits hanging out all over the place these teenagers usualy go about bragging how theve slept with 20 or more people at the age of 15 or 16 and are usualy in a big groups screaming abuse at the community or at eachover most off the time they have weeks old makeup on and just keep putting more layers on. also they will have a 3 liter bottle of whitestorm each followed by a spliff hanging out there mouths.
As for the pakistanis and the drunks well the pakistanis just go around spitting all over the place and selling drugs to the teenagers and smackheads hyde dosent look like a town in england it looks like a town in india they think most the areas are there TURFF and white people are not alound in there TURFF or they will gang beat you up and then the drunks sit with the teenagers on the market or were they find them and then will go in the shop for the teenagers 17 liters of cider and then the teenagers will end up fighting usualy with the drunk then they will all get arrested and will be back out in no more than 6 hours to start it all again.
I came across this article by accident and find it incredibly amusing. Firstly, I have one of those so-called ‘chav names’ and yet, strangely enough, I do not act or behave in such a manner befitting that stereotype. I have a degree in English, which brings me onto the spelling and punctuation of your article: the numerous mistakes imply that you are an ignorant individual who should spend more time trying to improve yourself rather than criticise others.
There are some areas of the world which do not have facilities such a running water or adequate sewage systems. I believe those are true issues for concern, not whether you live in a culturally diverse area – diversity should be celebrated.
Hyde is not a particularly bad area and most of the content of your post is grossly exaggerated. People should think positively about the area in which they live, in order to work together to make improvements if necessary. Maybe this response will put some of your radical views in context.
Brilliant, we could twin Hyde with Rochdale.
hu the f**k do you think your trying to slag off sat at home with nothin else better 2 do then attempt to slag people ff sort it out you fool!!
To who ever wrote this, you’re pathetic. I’ve lived in Hyde and Gee Cross for most of my life, and half of what you’ve wrote is complete crap.
Just because of the odd ‘smack head’ or ‘chav’ which might i add you tend to get no matter where you are, it doesn’t mean that you can generalise it to everyone who just happens to live there.
How can you be so racist? Pakistanis are all drug dealers now is that what you’re saying? You really should of thought this whole thing through before you decided to go off on one.
I’m a teenager who’s from Gee Cross, and i’m not antisocial; i’ve never drank white storm, i’ve never smoked a spliff, and i certainly dont shout abuse at people. I dont wear make up either for the record.
Just because a few people are like this, it doesn’t mean we all are. As for the ‘they’re usually called Jodie Chelsea Charlotte Nicole Lauren Amy or sophie’ you shouldn’t of even said that:L How is it possibly their fault that they were named that? they didn’t jump out of the womb and announce what they wanted to be called did they? no.
I understand completely that some of these things annoy you, as they do myself, but i think its very unfair that you have generalised characteristics the way you have. So yeah, that’s just about all i have to say really.
PS, the ‘Glad to be in godley’ person, you sound like a douche.
Godley is a lot cheaper than Gee Cross
I have lived in Hyde all my life (21 years) and spent my entire time here living on Great Norbury St, an area which the author would probably not like to see very often. I appreciate that the Pakistani and Bangladeshi can at times be extremely scruffy with a lack of regard to proper disposal of home appliances and carpets, as well as food waste, however this is not a sole characteristic of those communities and the white community have been just as bad around here.
My main issue is the growing number of chavy kids around Hyde at the minute. They used to knock around St Georges Church/school but can often be seen around the market now. Especially around GN St atm with alot of ‘trailer trash’ families moving around the area, it is looking like a mini shameless.
There are alot of nice things to Hyde, we have some beautiful scenery with the peak district canal and Werneth Low. We have an amazing history with our part in the industrial revolution, the Hyde Seals, one of the oldest football clubs in the North West, etc. Some very friendly people in the area and an enjoyable atmosphere in some of the pubs I go to (will not be everyone’s tastes but I have never had any problems with them).
What would make Hyde a much nicer place to live would be if the council made some sort of effort to promote integration between the different communities in Hyde
Used to live in Gee Cross and that was a nice place. Hyde is about 10 minutes walk down the road but you could be in a different country.
We moved away in 92 and could slowly see the back streets of Hyde being taken over and becoming unfriendly. Used to take a short cut to the town centre through the back streets but my father in law still lives there and says he wouldn’t do that now. Last time we were there, about 5 years ago, Hyde looked a lot scruffier than we remembered it and the market was nowhere near as good. Full of crappy stands run by scruffy people and pakis. Used to be fresh fruit, cheese shops, fresh fish, decent cheap jeans and clothes, run by people who cared what they were selling. That was a long time ago.
Anyone who mentions anything to do with how whatever culture has badly affected their area is instantly branded a racist. People don’t like the truth obviously.
It’s better to be in Godley. There are no chavs in Godley because it is too expensive for them. The poor just gaze at it longingly as they travel by on the bus on the way back to Hattersley.
The centre of Hyde is exactly as described here; dreadful place. From Godley, one can hop on the M67 at Mottram and avoid Hyde centre altogether. That’s my recommended route.
I wouldn’t call Hyde a “beautiful” town. It’s a typical small, northern working-class town, with lots of poverty and a fair share of run-down facades. On the positive side, it has a sense of community, all age ranges are represented and many people have lived here for many years. People meet in the numerous cafes and often know each other. The town centre with its pedestrian zone is always lively with plenty of second hand shops and a market. There are two big supermarkets (Morrisons and Asda) in the centre of Hyde in addition to discount stores such as Aldi and B&M. For bargains, Hyde is the best place I know.
I guess it’s at night when it can turn bad. You get gangs of youngsters hanging around in the market square, vandalising the area, as well as drunks of all ages, especially outside the “Jolly Carter” and the “Wetherspoon”, smoking, spitting and swearing. It can be quite disgusting going through the pedestrian zone when these people are out, especially when you see spit everywhere. At the weekends, it can get out of control at night, you get alcohol-fuelled fights, women screaming, bottles being smashed etc. it’s disgusting. I normally like Wetherspoon’s pubs but the one in Hyde is so rough I’ve given up on it. The best pub in Hyde, I guess, is the Bike&Hound. Great for lovers of classical rock music, friendly atmosphere and completely chav free.
Outside the town centre, Hyde can be very scenic, in particular the walk up to Werneth Low, which offers lovely walking routes and spectacular views. The town hall and the library are among the attractive buildings (Victorian) that give Hyde an urban atmosphere.
So, yes, Hyde town centre is quite bad for chavs but altogether Hyde isn’t such a bad place to live. The town has everything for your daily needs, loads of shopping facilities, restaurants, doctors, banks, fitness centres, and you never have to walk long to get into the countryside.
The appalling description of Hyde by ‘Hyde Resident’ is an utter fabrication of the reality of the town. Being a resident of Hyde for 25 years (from birth), I can assure you that it does not deserve a place in this website. Hyde is a lovely little town that has everything one can ask for in a quiet area on the outskirts of the city.
As for the detailed descriptions of ‘Hyde Resident’, it is true; there are a handful of drug abusers and ‘yobs’. However, studies have proven that no matter where you live, you will inevitably be in contact with such people, as it is the nature of the human race. There is no such thing as a ‘perfect town’, unless you are living in a Walt Disney movie. Hyde is by no means the perfect town, but neither is it the slum that is being painted on this website.
Furthermore, Hyde Resident’s identification of the issues surrounding the ‘Pakistani’ community raises questions of his (or her?) ignorant nature. Central Hyde is an area that is constructed of a predominately Asian community. There are a couple of Pakistani families, to my knowledge, while the rest is of Bangladeshi descent. Merging the 2 nations in to 1, and also implying that Hyde “dosent look like a town in england it looks like a town in india” suggests a lack of education, as well as a racially discriminative attitude of the author. The Bangladeshi community do tend to keep themselves segregated, but this is normal in diasporic communities. However, this does not affect the safety of the non-Bangladeshi residents, and the comment about ‘turf wars’ is utterly diabolical. Of course there will be incidents when groups of youth clash, and at times, they will be aggravated by racial indifferences, but it is by no means as hostile as depicted here. It is merely a universal issue of tension between cultural groups that is displayed by misguided youths. Apart from these ostentatious youthful displays, the relationship between the cultures is one of mutual respect.
Hyde is a beautiful town. The person who wrote this disgraceful article can only be assumed as one of the “Jodie Chelsea Charlotte Nicole Lauren Amy” that they have described. Give credit where it’s due. I am honoured to live in this town.
A True Resident.
Those are very very true words! It may not be the best place on the map, but the areas that are nice in Hyde, are genuinely nice…
I’m not being funny or anything but I have lived in Hyde all my life and it isn’t what all you people are calling a chavtown. Its pretty sad anyway that you have made a website for this and how can you say the girls are mostly called etc. Its stupid you probalay dont even live here. Just wanted to say that this is really untrue and pretty pathetic and whoever wrote this is also RACIST.
While a lot of this can be true, a lot of it is also utter rubbish.
For one, Gee Cross , Hyde. Yeh they’re different places, the Centre of Hyde is an absolute shithole!
As for Gee Cross, being from there myself, it is definately not as bad as is portrayed here. I have many friends who can vouch for that. There was a point where it was bad, and the pubs now are generally full of arseholes, but these people tend to come from Hattersly, Hyde and over Werneth Lowe way.
Bold Statement by the person who posted this.
The bad use of grammar for me illustrates his/her lack of education, and the use of ‘pakistanies’ is an obvious cover up for the fact that they are racist.
Hyde isn’t as bad as made out and has an awesome historical background, people look over this and its a shame.
Although, one thing, Ricky Hatton, the sooner he leaves Gee Cross the better.
A once nice market town blighted by ever growing numbers of idiots but also a town divided along cultural boundaries with white folk on one side and asians on the other. If anyone tells you differently then they are either telling lies or don’t leave the nice suburbs of Godley and Gee Cross very often apart for a quick visit to the shops. Anyone who walks the back streets of Hyde (as I do when I go to visit my mother a couple of times a week) is acutely aware of the problems Hyde faces, particularly when night falls and a large section of the town becomes a no go zone if you face doesn’t fit the profile. A great shame really, there are many fantastic people in both communities but as always the rest of us are dragged down by the mindless minority.
I fondly remember the Hyde of 25 years ago, still very much a working class town on the whole but a nice little market town. Such a shame that the town centre itself is now abandoned to large elements of the chav culture at certain times of the day. Still some great people in the area though, never overlook that.
Can someone please take this crap off! Talk about putting people into boxes. I am very offended by those comments. Whoever wrote this is sheer arrongant
jacqueline,
Very offended are we? And on your say so it´s crap? I notice there is not a glowing report of Hyde/Gee Cross from yourself to contradict the original post.
As for yourself and the rest of the f**king clowns who have only managed to pull up the guy´s spelling and grammer, is it a requirement to use perfect grammar to get your message across? I will answer that one for you, no it is not, the main point is that he got his message across and in doing so pointed out to a wider audience the stupidity of anyone thinking of paying this shithole a visit.
While it’s absolutely not necessary to use proper spelling or grammar to get your message across, it’s best to do so if you’re planning on insulting others’ use of the language. At least the Pakistanis who can’t speak it don’t have it as their first language. I’m guessing this person doesn’t have that excuse.
Wow! That was hard work to read. I bet those “chavs” use better grammar than this dude. I’m looking for real info on gee cross as I’m looking at properties there. This is just a rambled rant, anyone know what it’s really like?
Yes….its SHIT. Hows the spelling ?
@george Since you asked
“it’s” not “its”
and “how’s”
so pretty shit really.
cretin
This doesn’t look or read like the previous posts, ever heard of a full stop?
very Racist, i have lived around that area all my life, No go areas for whites are you having a laugh mate, where are these no go areas, are you even from the area?
The writer states there are ‘pakistani people that cant speak a word off english’ in Hyde unlike racist white people who can’t write a word of English – incredibly poor grammar.
I totally agree. Not a single comma either…
Paige I totally agree with you, the person who wrote this is looking at a glass half empty, and not a glass half full.
Anyone who lives here and as grown up round here will know that its the minority that give the majority a bad image…
Gee cross is a lovely place.
I think somebody is exaggerating a whole lot, with a whole lot of bad grammar and a whole lot of bigotry.
Peace.
