Admin: I’ve published this article, so our regular readers can play ‘spot the full stop’. I wonder if there is a Firefox plugin that can automatically capitalise the first letter of each word for you as you type?

  2. I also grew up in Gorton. We even maintain a business there still (low overheads). But thank god our business relies on the internet and not the locals to generate revenue. In the 60′s and 70′s, the place wasn’t bad. The place is nowadays a mix of the impecunious underclass intermingled with the resident Albanians and Africans who have made Gorton their home. In the summer time, barefooted women can be seen walking with bundles of laundry on their heads. I do not jest. It is an economic wasteland awash with astonished-looking Nigerians driving £200 Rovers with no licence; oh and pound shops.

Still, while the likes of “manchester-girl” above regales us with her Cedar Mount acquired grammar and tortured syntax, there is hope for us all eh?

I too grew up in Gorton and don’t give a toss whether I’m regarded as working class or not. In fact I’ve just linked to this page on a post about chavs on my blog.

Enjoyed reading this site and will no doubt return. Hope my punctuation is ok!

I grew up in Gorton. A working class district like any other. The problem is that many are ashamed of their working class backgrounds and try to come across as posh/middle class – I see this almost everyday here in London.
