Stockport

Stockport is so full of chavvy kids wearing tracksuits, speaking slang and genuinley acting menacing. I cant even walk down the streets without coping an earful from some chav.

Just because I am individual like everybody else these people intimidate me. If I want to paint my lips black and wear pagan symbols I shouldnt have to feel intimidated walking past people in the street wearing sportswear and speaking slang…. teh chavs.

They are obviously disrespecting my individuality by being so poor.

Seriously there may be a legitimate greivance with many individuals but the way this website obscures the boundaries between relevant criticism and just plain hate against a different social group is made even more pathetic because most posters beleive they have a genuine greivance.

This chav thing is being made worse by some educated middle class types of people who are part of subcultures. The reason why is because in many parts of manchester it is not possible to wear a tracksuit without becoming the victim of snobbery. I for one prefer sporty type clothes, i grew up working class but im from yorkshire. I have never been in with the chav stuff as im now 29 so grew up before this stuff started. I do remember a time though when i could wear a branded tracksuit and trainers and no one thought anything of it. I have always wore jeans and t shirts more though. I dont like most of the fashions that come around, its as simple as that, i do not want to join a subculture. I used to live near stockport so went there often, and yes those types of people are a pain, there almost like animals. They will find any reason to pick on someone. And if your a woman and they have no other reason to pick on you, they will instead shout rude things to you. Only thing that stops them is if they think your harder then them, or you might know there mom. These people come from very poor backgrounds and are raised by people with no social skills. They also eat crap foods.

So when i am wearing sports gear myself, as i do lots of walking it is also a pain when toffs in goth, smart or even eco fashion start with there passive aggressive class bulling behaviour. No ones clothes are better then anyone elses, different clothes do for different occassions. I think the reason why these people refered to as chavs wear sports gear is because its practical, and its fashion does not change too much, instead the brand name is the fashion of it. Poorer people carnt keep up with changing fashions in other things. For me it does not matter as i will always wear what i want anyway.

Hey if “individualgoth” wants to express his/her individuality by dressing like Dracula then that’s his/her business.

Stockport is inhabited by some wannabe rudeboys but they tend to talk a much bigger fight than they are prepared to give.

Stockport would be ok if they flattened it. And it’s racist, St George flag flying suburbs like Offerton.

Hey – Just because people chose to fly St George flags doesn’t make them racist – Just Patriotic! I grew up on Offerton Estate and agree it is a shit hole. I now live in New Zealand and I tell you something your not accused of being racist if you fly the NZ flag.

FAO – Manc Union. Please explain to me why flying the official English flag is racist. I do not get your point of view at all. You’re either just trying to get angry responses or you’re jumping on the racist bandwagon. There are lots of silly people like yourself with that view. It’s tiresome now. Lets talk about your unhappy state of mind instead, shall we?

If you think you are an “individual” because you dress like all your mate’s that also believe they are “Individual” I hate to break it to you – but you are deluded. You are simply part of a minority sub culture. A sub culture that is still recognised as a market, and sold to by dudes in suits. Don’t be fooled into thinking that the choices you have made in your purchases, music, T shirts, recreation etc haven’t been spoon fed to you. They have, but the dudes in suits know how important it is to you that you believe you are an individual and have reached these choices on your own. So instead of forcing a great big Nike tick down your throat, you have most probably been the subject of more stealth gorilla marketing. You’re as guilty of being judgmental against “Chavs” as they are of you.
I saw a Steam Punk walking through Stockport Merseyway on Friday in a top hat and goggles – no one shouted at him, because no one cared – they were getting on with their business. Maybe you just need to stop being such a douche and you wouldn’t get abuse.

Chumps who feel the need to express their so-called individuality through the medium of farcical garb (which is usually identical to that of their equally sad mates, funny that) get no sympathy from me. You complain of the “chavs” disrespecting your individuality, then go on to disrespect them for being poor. Mocking those percieved to be less well of than yourself is not only in extremely bad taste, but also makes you a hypocrite.

Anyway, Stockport’s not that bad, in fact it’s quite posh.

This is called racial discrimination when directed at minority groups. Such groups are protected by law to go about their daily business without harm. No-one should be verbally/physically abused for the way they dress. In my own experience, people who shout at individuals usually turn to physical violence when ignored. Would you say that is fair game? Do you think people should be verbally/physically abused for being black, gay or asian?

  8. Robbo says:

Have you ever heard the term, ‘run with the wolves’? If you want to paint your lips black matey and wear pagan symbols then it’s absolutely your prerogative to do so. But what you simply must accept is that by doing so you are making yourself entirely conspicuous and of course you will get abuse for dressing like that. The best way to deal with the situation would not be to blame everybody else, it would be to grow up a bit and realize that you may get more respect if you dressed a little more normally. It’s simple common sense. Not just from chavs but from employers and family and friends too.

      LOL at you!
Destroying the idea of individuality and conducting a view of what is normal, to ‘fit’ into society. You are the kind of people; the true reasoning behind all the hate in the world, as well as the reason why many of us English folk are so placid and dare-not stand up for ourselves. f**k you and your social conformity sir.
